whats your best deal off of ebay
I was just wondering I know some of you who use ebay allot and wanted to know what was the best deal that you have gotten? It seems to me that all of the " good deals "are not that good after you pay the shipping. However I did get out bid yesterday on an assorment of Thill floats. it had 23 floats and ended at $9.00  . so I want to hear your best or worse ebay story.

Re: whats your best deal off of ebay
My best happening with e-bay. My wife and I bought a boy scout collection, under pressure from her saying we can make a couple hundred on it. Well we got it for $200 and after all the charges were in made $1100 on it. Sold all the items seperately. Was a lot of fun.

I bought a tackle box with over 100 spinners for columbia salmon inside. Not one was a bad lure. I got it for 24.00 including shipping.

Many, many higher-end reels. Fin-Nor spinning reels, Penn International and other fly reels, Quantum PR-600 baitcasters (the best of the lot!), Diawa Millionaire CVZ-series, etc., plus several graphite and boron fly rods, all for about half (or less) of retail, including the shipping.
I love Ebay!
Sooooooo sick ....

Picked up my 20' 1991 Willie Predator guide model on an e-z loader trailer, 75hp & 8hp Merc's, with a few other bells & whistles for less than 8K. (Big motor had less than 30 hours.)

Re: whats your best deal off of ebay
1. A 1978 mercury 9.8hp long shaft outboard in perfect shape for $175.00.
2. A bag of Okies (about 200 of 'em) for 8 bucks.
Ebay used to be a great place to find great deals, but nowadays you have to look hard for them.

Re: whats your best deal off of ebay
I have been selling on eBay for about 5 years now and have done very well. As for buying I have got a few ok deals, but as a seller I can not complain about the profits to be made.

Re: whats your best deal off of ebay
Have never gotten a deal through ebay. Every time I bid on the product i'm interested in, I always get outbid. Always. I tried to get a new digital Camera and a DVD recorder. Every time I attempted to obtain one the bid went clear up to the same retail price that the product could have been bought at Video only.
I tried all through the month of September and October 2003. Sometimes I found my bid being raised almost simultaneously to the time my bid was being posted.
I got discouraged and felt ebay was a rip off.
Perhaps bidding on used items or non-electronic products ends up with better results.

Re: whats your best deal off of ebay
My best deals were on high-end shimano reels and spin-glos, and reels, and spoons, and reels, and spinners, and lots of other stuff but the wife put me on ebay time-out for now. (at least she thinks she did)
Oh and I picked up some stuff to make these little early morning fish catchers.

Re: whats your best deal off of ebay
Years ago, there were a number of companies (Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) who tried to get in on the auction thing. Until they went south, there were some incredible buys because there weren't any other bidders.
On Hotmail auctions, I got two Big Jon Downriggers with 48" booms for $75.
Sadly, there is only eBay now with huge numbers of bidders.
Bucketmouth - You're a victim of "Proxy Bidding." This type of bidding allows you to enter the max you want to bid. When you enter your bid, you bump somebody else's bid up to be more than yours. This will continue until your bid is greater than the maximum bid the other bidder entered.
And, yeah. It is not uncommon for used items to sell for more than new on ebay. You gotta be careful.

Never post a bid until 5 minutes before the auction ends. And look for auctions that end at 2:00am.

Re: whats your best deal off of ebay
Use esnipe.com to set your bids to go right before the auction closes  Its kinda sneaky in a way, but if you dont have time to monitor your PC and dont want to get into a bidding war with someone back and forth, it works pretty good

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">I found this out the hard way. I sold a Fender Strat with case and it went for half of what it should have.
When I was emailing the winner, he pointed out, "Never let an auction close around midnight"

Re: whats your best deal off of ebay
I recently got two ultra light quality Shimano reels (that I needed for Kokanee fishing) for $9.95 + $8.00 shipping. By far, that has been my best deal, but I haven't bought much off of ebay.

Re: whats your best deal off of ebay
Since these are all positive reports, and Salmonberry asked for "best or worse" I'll throw in a worse.
My PC got hacked in Nov. and on of the first places they gained access too was E-bay, 3 hours later, $9,700 in buy-it-nows, and sales off my account. They were posting some items under my "new" user ID that they had changed, then asking the bidders to send them wire transfers of money.
Working with Department of Public Safety, we work closely with the Oregon State Police in our office. We have used E-bay numerous times to recover stolen property. If you buy such an item, and someone (owner, law enforcement, etc.) find it, it will be confiscated and you will not be reimbursed. Be careful of this also. SOme things that are too good to be true often are...
BE very wary of people with 'recently changed' icons next to their seller names
Also, when bidding on an item, highlight the EXACT auction title, and do a new search. We have found 4 identical auctions and descriptions all for one same item listed under 4 different peoples accounts...Hum, probably not a legit. item!
Good Luck though, its a great site!

Re: whats your best deal off of ebay
Like new 1 year old Custom Shop 60's Sunburst Strat at about 1/2 of Musicians Friends price. Came with a Tolex case too! I saved about $1000 dollars.

Re: whats your best deal off of ebay
Have both good and bad to say about e-bay, as a buyer its getting harder to find a good deal, and as a seller the shipping is killing us.
Best deal 59" Dorato Reproduction 185.00
Best sale a "Part reel" 5501 in pieces 127.00
(went to Germany)
Worst deal, home made down rigger 10.00 Shipping was 52.00, wasn't worth the 10.00
Worst Sale 10 3 way brass valves worth 100.00 didn't start high enough went for 11.00.
But I still go on there almost everyday, you never know its kind of like the Lottery. If you don't play you can't win.........Ray
