Default Residential Tree Harvest/Logging...

I know there are folks out there who will take down trees in residential areas, but are there companies who will do it with the intention of selling the logs for lumber or firewood?

I have 10 douglas fir trees in my backyard that I am interested in having removed. (They range from 30"+ diameter and ~90' to some smaller ones that are less than a foot in diameter.) My thought was that by using a logging company who wanted the trees to sell, it would offset the cost of removal. Would this be the case?

Any thoughts on the lowest cost way of getting rid of them? I am not interested in keeping the wood if its going to cost me more.

Most sawmills won't take a chance on residential fir. Too much risk of embedded things like electrical insulators (they don't show up to a metal detector) to bust a blade and cause injury or death at the head rig. You might find a small operator who would take a chance, but the cost of removal is generally more than the value of the logs.
