Anyone on Ifish in the roofing business
I have a small leak in my roof above my kitchen window. I think I have it narrowed down where it's coming in the roof, but i'm not sure how to fix it. If anyone on ifish is in the roofing business and would like to make some extra cash I could sure use your help.
Thanks in advance, Mike
I live in Salem by the way

I'm no expert but I have replaced shingles on all my homes. I think you best get in your attick asap and determine how big the leak is. Then get hold someone who is qualified to repair what you find.

I have crawled in my attic and the wet spot is only about 4" however there is no water in my attic. I believe the leak is getting under the shingles there and running down the roof to the outside of my exterior wall between the siding and coming in the top of my window.

Re: Anyone on Ifish in the roofing business
I'm not a roofer, but I grew up a contractors son so will offer some suggestions.
My roof used to leak the same way, 1994 mobile home with a stapled on roof. My problem was roofers who didnt properly place all the staples under the lap of the adjoining shingles. The roof would leak, the water would run down the inside of the sheathing, pool up on the soffit, then run down the inside of the siding, catch the window, and end up dripping out of the inside of the window trim. The leaks that werent at a window would puddle up on the sil plate at the bottom of the wall and make the sheetrock mold. It took alot more than a few shingles to fix my problem.
First things first; Get up on your roof with a tube of Blackjack and find the leak point. Its probably a nail hole, or nail or staple in a bad spot, old shingles, ect.... Seal it up to stop the damage.
Then your concerned about shingle replacements, sheathing rot, wet insulation, mold, damp sheetrock, ect......
For me the repairs involved a new roof, replaced sheathing due to rot, removing the sheetrock and replacing the wet insulation, ect.....
I hope your not there with your issue, it aint fun, or cheap. Blackjack!!!!

Re: Anyone on Ifish in the roofing business
I am not a roofer but used to manage commercial and residential properties in Salem. We used Pfeiffer Roofing alot. They are good people and reasonable. As far as I know, they are not on IFish.

This sounds like the EXACT same thing that might be happening. Thanks for taking the time to explain your situation.
