Not sure that one can reference, on one thread, the fear of one's abilities for numbers to be manipulated, and then on another thread use a data calculation report to support ones arguments...especially when none of the data points are given. Essentially, we really can not tell what the report is REALLY saying...only what the text is telling us in the midst of data-blindness. I for one would draw absolutely no opinions or inferences from that link.

Sorry SD, I know you want to make a point with it...but it can not be done, either for or against Oregon's position relative to taxation. Sorry.

If you cant get some data points that were used to draft the report, I'd be happy to then review and make judgements based on it.

Default More tax myths dispelled.

Here, complete with links to sources is a site that claims that we are being fed more lies and mass deception by those that say Oregon has one of the highest business tax burdens in the Country.

Another myth disproved...........

Noop. You need to read beyond paragraph #3. Start with the one called "The Report's Major Shortcomings". Several reasons are cited that cast aspersions on the COST report. They include:

"The COST study makes highly questionable choices regarding which taxes are considered 'business' taxes, including a broad range of taxes that most economists agree are not fully borne by owners of capital, such as unemployment insurance and property taxes on rental property."

"COST also classifies property taxes paid by businesses such as farmers on their personal, owner-occupied homes and telecommunications taxes that are directly billed to consumers, as 'business' taxes."

"By including so many taxes that are not actually paid by businesses, the COST study represents a seriously inflated measure of the initial incidence of business taxes."

Etc. etc.
