My little Girl shows me up again!
The wife and son decided to stay in bed but my 7 year old daughter was up and keen on getting out and fishing on Saturday the 14th. So what is a dad to do, I hooked up the High Impedance and popped over to Haystack (had to take call starting at 1:00). Beautiful day sunny calm, 27 degrees when we were driving over, water was 41 degrees. We hit the water around 7:30 am and started trolling. As we got into the southeast cove my rod folded. After Janae got her rod in I handed her mine and she finished bringing in a pretty 13.5" rainbow. We circled the little lake stopped at the truck for snacks. Janae decided it was time to change her lure she dug in my kokanee box and decided upon a nickel and green humdinger . We headed back across to where we picked up the first bite. As we neared the end of the cove I saw a little drag on her rod and advised her to reel up and clear the weed, I was currently cleaning weeds of my rod. As she picked up the rod and started reeling it it she tells me that she has a fish not a weed. I looked back and noticed that the line was way off to the side of the boat so I cleared my rod and got the net as she finished bringing in an 18.5" brown . What can I say, always a nice day when you get out fished by your 7 year old Daughter.

I have found it is always prudent to listen to daughters when they suggest lures out of the tackle box.

That is awesome, good work! I can't wait to teach mine the ins and outs of fishing. Got a few to go though, she is only 6 months old!!!

You have to love it but what is with girls kicking the guys buts when it comes to fishing. We take my mom on an annual bass fishing trip to Ten Mile Lake and every year she catches the most and the biggest all while making it look soooo effortless. We love her for it.

It will get there very quickly. My son caught his first trout at about 2, I pushed him up to a hole in a creek in a stroller and he hung the worm over the edge and hauled a nice fat 8 incher out .

Re: My little Girl shows me up again!
It only gets worse from here on out. My college junior daughter and I were on one of our favorite lakes this summer and I barely had time to get my line out inbetween helping her net and release her fish!
