Weird vibes and Craigslist
I recently contacted someone about a really great sounding deal on a 4 stroke kicker off of Craigslist. No phone # in their ad, but we traded a few emails. They had said they lived in the Couv, and had suffered some recent economic hardship. Had sold their boat and were now selling their kicker.
I started to get some funny vibes when they wanted to bring the kicker to me, rather than me coming to them. Then they said they didn't have the fuel tank for it, just the motor and hose. Then they didn't give me a phone # to call them at. Last night I sent an email asking if they had manuals/warranty cards for the motor, and what dealer they had purchased it from, and gave my cell # to discuss further meeting time and location. No response since then either on email or by phone.
Now, I guess they could have just sold it to someone else. Or I could be assigning bad motivations to things. But it has certainly sobered me to the darker side of Craigslist. If anyone is missing a late-model 9.9 Merc, shoot me a pm.
