what does that switch with the red strip do?

That switch locks the motor in a straight position. Guess it might be for trailering. Wiggle the motor a bit and flip it and it will drop into a hole in the arm and it is locked.

I have used it several times and that is it's only use as far as I can figure.

That is a flux-capicitor. Every time the motor is started, it sends a neo-iridium wave signal to the center of the earth, releasing positive sulphite ions which recharge simultaneously creating a hydronumatic energy wave throughout the cumulous and nimbus levels of the atmosphere, creating rain. That's why it rains so much in Oregon - too many Yamaha trolling motors... :grin:

Killertraylor- so is it possible to devert that neon interverting flow via patch cord to my downrigger cable, thus creating a postive ion charge thru the information hyway. or possible recharge my lighted kwikfish, :grin: :grin:

I think that makes it a sailboat model. If I remember right, they lock the motor strait and use the boat's rudder to steer.
