AVOID ICE DAMAGE!!!
Moments ago, I heard a very large sheet of ice slide down my roof and land in the back yard. This prompted me to immediately go out and back my truck up abit away from the eves.
So, be sure to check around the outside of your house and move things away from eves to prevent ice damage. Just a thought....

Re: AVOID ICE DAMAGE!!!
I'm curious as to what kind of roof you have?
I was worried about the ice sliding on to the rigs also, but I didn't think it would slide off of composition....

Re: AVOID ICE DAMAGE!!!
Standard 3-tab shingles, but there's about 2" of snow under 1.5" of ice. As the snow is melting, the ice is sliding. Very loud!

Re: AVOID ICE DAMAGE!!!
saw on the news today where a half dozen vehicles had ice slide off business awnings onto storefront parking..many damaged and windshields shattered and busted out.

Re: AVOID ICE DAMAGE!!!
If you have a roof sloping towards the vehicle below it - might back your vehicle up a few or move it entirely. I've heard some slabs slide off some roofs in my neighborhood and land pretty loudly. Would suck to have those land on a car... could put a hurt on it I'm imagining.
If the ice on my roof is the same thickness as the stuff in my yard - that's a big slab of 1"+ ice. DOH!

Re: AVOID ICE DAMAGE!!!
Moved mine last night after reading the initial message in this thread. Better safe than sorry I guess. First time I have moved the rig in a week. I have not had to drive in this mess at all!
Last night a neighbors tree went down and blocked our driveway. Only damage was about 25 foot of fence destroyed. While trying to get my trusty Stihl chainsaw going, the pull start cord broke! Fortunately another neighbors friend had one and brought it over.

Re: AVOID ICE DAMAGE!!!
Looked outside in my driveway this AM where my truck WAS parked - several large pieces of ice had slid off my roof onto the driveway where my truck WAS parked - Whew! Glad I moved it.

Re: AVOID ICE DAMAGE!!!
Also, don't follow too closely behind the big rigs. Sheets of ice have been lifting off the roofs of the trailors and coming down on whatever is behind them.
