Default 5 O\'clock and still light. Love it!

Well this is only two hours late but I was interupted with a phone call from my brother who is still stuck in Vegas because of PDX weather and now it looks like Saturday before anyone will be flying in or out of PDX.

But on the bright side, I noticed at 5:00pm it was still somewhat bright outside.
That cheered me up knowing we are past that dredfull day in December(can't remember the day), the shortest day of the year.
I hate it when the days are sooooo short!
I don't know how they can cope with that up in Alaska where it is considerably worse.
A friend of mine says; "yea, but they make up for it in the summer".
I told him I know it, I was there once.
Burn out!

Anyway I am always gratefull to see this time of year when the days get longer and longer and knowing we only have 2 more months of possible harsh weather.

We are half way through winter. Yea!!!

I am with ya there Btbw , i usually go through the winter reasonably well but for some reason this one stinks for me. Maybe it was the fact that i had the flu two times and had my tonsils taken out, lots of time spent sick or recovering. No work for the last three days due to weather. I think i have a serious case of cabin fever.
Can't wait for spring!!!!!!

I know what you mean Dano.
It's called the Winter Solstice, and occurs on the 21st or 22nd day of December every year. Though I am not a Pagan, I am thankful every time we turn the corner--and tend to have a little celebration in honor of the event!
Every gardener, farmer, or lover of spring looks forward to the Vernal Equinox on March 21 or 22nd,when there is finally 12 hours of day and night.
Sun worshippers look forward to the Summer Solstice June 21st or 22nd-the opposite of the Winter Solstice, in which the diurnal pattern reaches its apex...I mean, the day is the longest!
The Autumnal Equinox--September 21st or 22nd, concludes our seasonal discussion. It too is a 12 hour day/night, as we head into the longer nights ahead.
What it all boils down to is I like the longer days!!!!

Cabin fever was so bad at my place we almost painted the bathroom. Got all the sheetrockers mistakes spackled and textured, got the stuff off the walls, couldn't find the paint. Whew!
