Fishrunner, If you are bringing a boat sand Island is your best bet for tent camping in the area. it is set up with docks and outhouses as well as being right at he mouth of the channell.

Wow! Thank you for the quick and thorough response!
I am planning on being in the area SAT-WED beginning on March 20th. Hope to get a few Idaho Springers before they get to Idaho.

As far as Sand Island goes---is that a pay to stay or is it primitive and just go for it place? I have launched from St. Helens before, and is Sand Island that first Island right outside the launch?
Thanks again.
Fishrunner.

PS-Red and Silver Hewes that says Fishrunner on the sides. Will turn on the VHF to 68.

It is a primitive first come first serve non-fee site and it is directly across from the St.Helens launch.

St. Helens also has a Best Western and the Village Inn also has rooms if you don't feel like roughing it. Both are on Highway 30 about 7 minutes from the launch ramp.

fishrunner, camping spots are in short supply in this area, there are none that I know of. There is a motel called the Wayside as you come into Scappoose that has reasonable rates and I this has room to park your boat. Just remember to lock eveything up. If you need anymore info or need telephone numbers, E-mail me I would be glad to help you out. I live in Scappoose so everything is close.

You might check out the Washington side also for camping and motels and ramps. Good access to that part of the river from Ridgefield to Woodland and Kalama.

On Sauvie Island (a suburb of Scappoose) there is

Reeder Beach RV Park 503-621-3970
and
Sauvie Cove RV 503-621-9701

both a short ways from ramps on the Multnomah Channel.

You might see if they have anything that meets your needs.

Default Lodging/Camping St. Helens ---Scappoose

Thinking about making the trip over spring break to the St. Helens area to fish. Are there any reasonable hotels in the area or any camp/tent areas?
Thanks in advance for the help.
Fishrunner.

Scappoose Airport has a campground. Don't know if it is open, ramps are about 5 miles away to the north and south.
