Quite a Weekend...
My oldest daughter (13) came to see me New Years eve. Taylor was born with hydrocephelus and has a seizure disorder but otherwise does very well. When I got divorced in 1996 I thought it was best to let my ex wife have custody. In retrospect this was a terrible decision. My current wife was in the bathroom helping my daughter bathe. She called out to me to come into the bathroom and see the bruises on my daughters upper arms. I then found out that she also had a huge welt on the back of her head. I then found out the bad news that, on Christmas morning, her stepfather had grabbed her and threw her onto her bed. Taylor had a glass cookie jar full of candy sitting on her bed. When she was thrown, her head hit the jar. She tried to call me but her mother took the phone away so she could not call me.
So I did not find out until almost 5 days later. My almost immediate reaction was to drive over and take care of business. I thought this over and then made the right decision. I contacted the police and also took my daughter to the hospital to get the injuries documented and she also had a cat scan performed. CT scan was fine and the bruises are starting to fade. Before we got back home, the ex left a message that sounded like a crazy woman, saying my daughter was a freaking liar. My daughter Taylor was scared to return to her mothers house. I also got CPS involved since my ex wife runs a home daycare business. This morning Taylor got up the courage to call home. Her mother screamed at her that when she got home she could pack all her clothes and pills and move in with me. I told my ex that I would be calling my lawyer Monday morning and was going to start proceedings on getting full custody of Taylor. She called me back this afternoon and said she would give up all rights to my Taylor. Thank you GOD, for listening to my prayers. Things are really looking up!

Re: Quite a Weekend...
Sounds like your X and her loving hubby need a visit from Mr. Spaulding and the Louisvill brothers.
I'm glad to hear that you have saved your daughter.

Congratulations Steve. Sometimes the good guys win. Your daughter will be far better off, and that is the important part.

Re: Quite a Weekend...
FNF, sounds like you caught this one just in time. You did the right thing by calling the authorities right away. Some people might not have reacted as well as you did.

Re: Quite a Weekend...
Sorry to hear about your problem. It would have been very easy to react in the wrong way. I'm glad that you handled it the way that you did. Your a lucky man to have your daughter back with you. My daughter moved back in with me when she was 13 after living with her mother for 5 years. What a switch from living alone to having a 13 year old girl in the house. It was definately an experience raisnig a daughter on my own but we made it just fine and I loved every minute of it.
Take care

Re: Quite a Weekend...
I'm sure Keta is just talking about rounding everybody up for a good ole baseball game. Anything else would be in direct violation of the AUP. We don't advocate illegal behavior. FNF did it exactly right. It would have been really tragic if she lost her Dad just when she needed him the most.

STG is right.
Although anyone that hurt kids should be shown no mercy it WILL get you tossed in jail if you do smack this jerk. I would push the leagal system hard so this guy gets tossed into a jail cell with Bubba, where he belongs.

Re: Quite a Weekend...
We moved my Daughter Taylor out of the mad cow's house. She had threw all of my daughters belongings into black garbage bags. When we got there it was all sitting in a pile by the front door. She is not getting to keep her dog that was bought for her. She got to keep her fish and bird. Ever try to move a cocketeil(sp?) in 23 degree temps? That bird was pretty excited. Now we have a lot of work to do getting her situated in our house and getting her into a new school. I told my other daughter (my youngest,12) if that gut eater ever touches her, not to hestitate
In getting ahold of me. What a long strange trip it's been. Thank you for the kind words and support.

Re: Quite a Weekend...
Hey brother, sorry this situation was sprung unto you. This kind of crap makes my blood boil especially when it happens to someone i know. Way to take control and take the smart road. People like her stepfather (i should not give that creep that title) will pay their due someday. Too bad the mad cow let herself be blind to all this. You and your baby will be in our thoughts and prayers. I hope you can still make it to the sturgie challenge.

Re: Quite a Weekend...
Served papers to the Mad Cow today. Big decrease in Child support. $800 down to $152. Been busy buying new clothes for my daughter as she was missing most of her favorite things. The ex just couldn't part with my daughters best clothes, she must have wanted them for herself. Mooooooooo! MAD COW ALERT! Would love to let you know how I really feel! If anyone ever needs a great divorce or custody lawyer, you couldn't find much better than Mike Pickett!

Re: Quite a Weekend...
Congrats on the way you handled the situation and I'm glad your prayers were answered. They say to count to 10 when your initial reaction is irrational given a situation to calm down and then react. I think I would have to count to 100 after hearing what your child went through. Happy that all is turning out well for her.

Re: Quite a Weekend...
FNF, you have a great amount of self control. If anyone ever did that to my little girl I would lose it. Congrats on getting the situation under control and getting her back living with you where she will be much better taken care of by the sound of it. I'm unfamiliar with the affliction you mentioned she has but hope that we can possibly see some pics of HER holding up some fish this winter and spring.

Re: Quite a Weekend...
There is a place in the future for what goes around, comes around. First things first and that is getting my daughter back on track. Her self esteem is practically non existent. With Grandma's (my mom) help, My Angel of a wife's help, my stepson's help (who in reality is my son now), we will go to work on bringing that up.
It is going to be a great year!

Re: Quite a Weekend...
It really is going to be a great year. You have your daughter back, she has a stable home life with a future to look forward to, the list goes on and on. Keep on being the good father you have been and everything will work out fine. It's a tough row to hoe but it pays big dividends in the end and it's very well worth it.
Given the good sense you've shown through this so far, I think everything's going to be just fine.

Re: Quite a Weekend...
yep, as others have told you, your a good man to be watching out for your daughter I wonder also if I had the self control that you have...someday your ex is going to realize what she has done...and possibly care.
Also, bruises/ knots on the noggin sound like child abuse charges are in order if not for both.... for your x`s new hubby.???

Re: Quite a Weekend...
I echo these same thoughts. It is difficult for me to even try to imagine what you were going through. I would like to think that I would have done the same as you did. My hat is off to you. Good Luck. Just one more to go......Hang in there.
