Default Anybody noticing......

less spam lately? I have went from about 20 a day down to 2 or 3. And I seem to remember something on the news about the government coming down hard on spammers..

Yeah, now that you mention it. I just dumped MSN as my ISP, but I noticed in the last week or two my MSN e-mail address was only getting a half-dozen spams a day, down from about 30 - 40. I didn't give it much thought, since all good things must come to an end.

As a matter of fact, yes, there is less spam going around these days. The govt popped one of the biggest spammers on the net a while back and shut 'em down. They were sending out something like 20 million spam emails per day.

Less? I probably only get 40 Viagra/Vicodin/Mortgage/"patch" spams a day, instead of the 50 I was getting. My ISP spam filter catches about another 50 or so a day. I really haven't noticed any improvement.

Actually, I've noticed a huge decrease in the amount of spam I'm getting. My ISP's filter used to catch 30 or 40 a day sometimes. Now it's down to 3 or 4.

In the 11 months since I got my new computer I have received...and deleted...a total of 10,004 spam emails as of today. It started out relatively slow...but now I get ~50 or more per day!

Google offers a great tool bar for free. It has a built-in pop-up blocker that works pretty darn good. I use Google almost all the time anyway so I'm very happy with it. You can chose for it not to keep track of your visits if that bothers you.

I can't get Google or any other search engines...seems my 'puter has got some bug or worm or something despite me having paid $50 for Norton anti-virus. My nephew, the professional computer geek, told me how to fix it...but I can't figure out his instructions...so one of these days I plan to take my machine in to town to have someone clean it out. The nephew is in Bozeman MT otherwise I'd have him look at it.

Easy way to clean it of viruses is to just dump windows and reinstall it all from scratch, all the viruses and other errors will be gone when you are done.

You shouldn't have to reinstall windows to clean things up.

Get Ad-aware 6.0 from Lavasoft and Spybot Search and Destroy. They will unclog your machine. Run them daily if you surf the web a lot.
