Default Why did Bellotti Call those 2 TO's

I will preface this by first stating that I am not a U of O fan...but why did Bellotti call those 2 TO's just before Minnesota kicked the game winning field goal

Is it me or did he have a serious case of rectal cranium infusion ?????

Seriously, if he were in the NFL and he pulled that in a playoff situation, he would be preparing his resume

That really compares to Nueweasle calling the time out against Michigan last year. Just doesn't make sense.
Pac 10 looking really good until now.

Pretty good calls, IMHO. The first one was to conserve some time so the Ducks would have a chance to score when they got the ball back in case Minnesota scored. The second one was to "ice" the kicker when the Gophers got within FG range. Didn't work. :depressed:
Doesn't matter how many timeouts you have when you turn the ball over with the game on the line, though.

Losing by one point may still be losing but it is a lot better than being blown out. The Gophers did one heck of a job. The Ducks did an almost Heck of a job. Remember Beavers, the Ducks were picked to finish at the bottom half of the Pac 10.

Minnesota was ranked, Ducks weren't.

I wouldn't worry too much about Bellotti's call making. He can coach anywhere he wants.

Saving time, not really that difficult to understand. Minnesota was already in field goal range, and Belloti didn't want the field goal to be the last play of the game.

I don’t know about that Minnesota was out of timeouts and would have had to ground the ball to stop the clock and then it would have been 4th down and they would have been forced to kick a longer FG not much time would have gone by and it was at that kickers max range. I knew it was the death of us when he did it I understand his thinking but don’t agree with the call.

But hey at least we beat them Beavers right!!!

Love that 20/20 hindsight!

That was a good game, too bad the Ducks didn't pull it off. Almost, though! Parker sure had a great game.

I feel pretty good about Clemens as QB for TWO MORE years, and all the other young guys coming back, and the freshman class, and ... GO DUCKS!!

BASKETBALL TIME!

I can see it both ways. I personally didn't like the time-out calls. There is just too many things that can happen when a team has no time-outs and is trying to hurry! Minnesota could have had a false start, bad snap, bad hold, shanked kick or many other penalties that could have resulted in a different outcome. Maybe they would have still won, but I think the best choice was not to call the to's. By calling the to's it looked like Oregon was giving up on the field goal and was just hoping for a miracle last play. Just my thoughts. Go Beavers!
