Good for you. A number of years ago my mother was delivering the mail. We had a storm that left almost 3 feet of snow. Well the plows came thru and left a burm and mom had to bust thru the burm to get to the mail boxes. I was on my way home and saw here stuck at one of the mail boxes and helped her get out. She was not having a good day as this was about the 20th time she had gotten stuck. 19 different people stopped and helped her pulling or vehicle or pushing and shovling. Then one pair of young guys stopped and told her they would help her for 20 bucks she paid but what comes around goes around and one day those young guys will pay for wanting that money. Wouldnt it be funny if they lived on her mail route and my mom got to deliver their bad report card from school to their parents.

I am always leary when I tow somebody. I always make them hook the tow rope to their vehicle. I heard if you hook up to another vehicle and any damage is done to that vehicle in the process of towing you are liable I dont carry tow insurance on my policy and dont want to buy somebody else a new vehicle because they are sue happy.

Anybody know if the tower really takes full responsibility for the towed vehicle while towing?

I dont know if them hooking the rope/chain to their vehicle aleviates some of my responsibility, but if they hook to the bumper and the bumper pulls off, I can say you shoulda hooked to something else, I didnt make that decesion.

Way to go justcastn, it feels good helping others out.

During the Feb, 96 floods I was still living in Tillamook. Something I alway's did was help people get from one side of the floodwater to the other using my boat. I took dairymen to isolated barns to check on cows, I took people who were stranded in to shelters, what ever needed to be done. I never thought much about it, I enjoyed helping out and seeing the smiles on their faces when we showed up to help.

During some of the highest water during the 96 flood, an ambulance showed up at the edge of the floodwater with a person with a broken leg. I didnt hesitate, I arranged the seats in my boat so that we could lay the gentlemen down on a stretcher across the boat, and then took him thru the floodwater to a safe location where another ambulance waited. It just happened that every news station in Oregon was on the other side. We loaded the gentlemen in to the other ambulance, and I took off to get more people to dryer ground. About a week later a friend of mine in Idaho called and said he had seen me on CNN new's.

The one thing that really amazes me while helping out all those different times growing up in Tillamook, was how many of the people I volunteered to help out were alway's trying to hand me money. I never excepted one cent! Their offering and smiles were more than enough.
