Default Sellwood Live Report

A beauty just landed!! Chromer, looked to be in the 25lb. range. Open sled with three happy campers. Counted 13 boats working the bridge and Chief is out there with them.
Heard they got in to some yesterday while I was off.
Happy Hooker is off today and called in around 8:30am with a 15 pounder in the boat down by Kalama area.

If your itchin to do some fishin, time is now!

D'oh...and I have a wife due to have a baby some time in the next couple of weeks, making fishing doubtful. And springers are so tasty too.

CT You can kiss this springer season good bye. But being a bright guy you have probably figured that out on your own. Do you have a name picked out?

We think so...but we're not 100% just yet. Still saying it out loud, making sure it sounds right, etc. I'll post, probably on LIG, when she's born with the 100% name.

Congratulations Cool Texan!!

My daughter turns 1 year old this Friday and I can't beleive where the time has gone. I took her springer fishing at just 6 weeks old...down at Meldrum Bar. They will still be in the river when you have time to get out. Is this your first?? If so, get ready...your life is about to change 1,000,000,000,000%

C'mon CT, it's no big deal. I've got just as many fish (BK) before kid as (AK) after kid. So, since I fish less now and catch just as many as before - I suck! But at least now I have a kid to show for it.

Anyone seen Paul Bland this season? He truly had a good season last year and was kind enough to share some of his secrets.
Oh!Oh!Oh! Yep, another sellwood shiner in the boat. Burgundy Super Vee with 3 fella's in good spirits.
Anyway, back to Paul, I haven't seen his smiling face this year and was wondering.

How many fish for how many boats would you say today?

Maybe those fish will be going through Milwaukie on Sunday

Okay, here's a newbie question for y'all. What's the proper technique for springer fishing on the Willamette under Sellwood bridge from a boat. Spinners?, spinners with bait?, plugs?, what depth? Any advice is much appreciated. Please excuse me if this belongs somewhere else on bulletin.

BHT... Yeah you ar OK here, If you want to know how to rig up, there was a thread a couple weeks ago about fishing the Willamette, and how to rig up.

But since you are here and I have nothing to do, I will let you know. I use a delta diver and a fish flash with a double sliding hook set up.(Mooching rig). Use a herring and rig it just like you would for buoy #10 and put it out 12-14 pulls. Troll with everyone else. You will see the people fishin.

If you want to use a spreader put on a 2' lead line and a 4' leader line, mooching rig again, and use herring again. Put it out with 4 oz of lead and 14 pulls, and follow everyone else.

Good Luck &
Good Fishing

BHT,

I would suggest fishing your poles at different depths, at least to start off, so that you have a better chance of hooking up. When one goes off, move the other poles to that depth. My only time fishing the Willamette for springers, we caught all of ours at 9 pulls.

BHT- you might also want to try using a prawn spinner at the same depth that everyone else told you to fish.

All right, time to dig out the boat. And reassemble the kicker. And ... buy a license
