Default High Tech Help Please?!?!

Well, sort of, anyway. I've noticed that thare are many iFishers who are in the high-tech/electronics industry, so I thought I'd throw this out there - like casting into unknown waters, I guess.

I have a Sony Mavic FD-90 digital camera. A while back, I dropped it. The camera works fine, but I cracked the LCD. I've called Sony - since the camera is not under warranty anymore you can imagine how that went. Any other place that I have found that repairs digitals wants more than the camera is worth to repair it. So, my question - does anyone know wher I might be able to purchase just the LCD so that I can replace it myself. I believe it's a 2.5" color LCD.

Thanks,

ORS

You might try Norvac Electronics, they could probably get it.

Are you good at teeny-tiny soldering?
Does it still work?

It it still works, I'd just go with it.

Good luck, but I doubt you can get anywhere. I am very familiar with Laptop LCDs, and have visited the suppliers for them world wide. There is no standard for the panels that go in desktop displays, nor laptops; let alone all of the PDA that exist. I know nothing of the camera world, but ALL panels come from the same suppliers.

In short, you might get lucky finding a broken one of yours, or try buying one from the camera manufacturer...but those are long shots at best.

good luck, gus

Agree with what Gus said, but many companies have an exchange program where you just pay a fee, send yours in and get back another reconditioned product just like the one that got broken. Worth a try...I've done this with a couple of the kids game boys that broke the screens.
