Question Need help deciding what motor to buy *HELP PLEASE!*

So I just purchased a 1999 Crestliner 14' welded jon boat with a console I want to put a small outboard jet on it so I can run around some of the rivers but I have absolutely no clue what size to buy I measured the back of the boat and took some pictures any help I could get would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Nick-

I would call a few dealerships to confirm jet motor height. Each mfg. might be a little different. The height doesn't follow the same dimensions as a prop. jet motors are about 30% less effecient, are you sure you need a jet?

short shaft pumped motors work on 20" transoms, Long shaft pumped motors work on 25" transoms.

finding SS pumped motors can be hard at times, a 70hp then pumped is what you want but your hull may have a hp rating tag on it causing you to run less hp.

you going tiller or controls? I have some if you want to drive to seattle.

2 strokes are a lot lighter than 4 strokes and usually have a better hole shot ...
Being a fan of yamaha I send some info your way ... Good luck ... Barney

Most 14' jons are only rated for 25 horse which will makes to had to put a jet on (lack of power). If your lucky and your's has a wide bottom, it might be rated for a 40. You'll probably want as close to the top end as you can get.
