Default Pellet Stove info please

Moved into a new house this fall and unfortunately it has electric forced air heat. Ouch... Thinking of all options and one is installing a pellet stove or a gas furnace, ouch again. My questions are:

Anyone know how the operating cost compares to natural gas.

What does it cost to run your pellet stove on a monthly basis? Primary heat or supplemental

Anybody buring corn?

any other info I would be thankful for.........

Fishbait - here is a web site that may help you out. Link

Talk to Don Abel - tell him Kerry from scouts pointed you in his direction. This guys are in Gresham...no store front, just web sales, but Don's a great guy and will be happy to help you out.

A builder buddy of mine in Redding, California just installed a new kerosene heater in a home. He swears by it as it was super easy to install (one small hole through the wall) and he claims it is cheaper than running a pellet stove. I don't know the brand but you can probably do some searching on the net.

I have a pellet stove and love it. I don't heat the house during the day nor after I head to bed. A bag of pellets ($3.50) will last me two to three days with this schedule but my house is well insulated, too.

If you get one, be sure and get one with push button lighting. I'm guessing the new ones all have that. I had an older one that was a pain to light in comparison to this new one.
