If all fish were that ugly, I think that would cure my fishing addiction. Would have to give up eating fish too!

Re: Ever catch one of these?
Great Posts, but that is a good reason to only put 300 yards of line on your reel, it will keep you out of there neighborhood. And how are you going to explain that to the Man on the Dock.

Got one of those first ones in the Willamette near Eugene last year. I released it thinking it was an alien come to rid us of Ducks...

Re: Ever catch one of these?
I had no idea of the types of fish that I'm not catching.
As far as I knew, the fish I'm not catching are big, but I didn't know they were so scary and wierd.

Re: Ever catch one of these?
When I travelled in Australia, the Oreo Dory was always the most expensive fish on the menu. It's supposed to be excellent table fare. Never tried it because I was on a budget. I think there is a whole family of lesser Dorys.

Re: Ever catch one of these?
Great pics for show and tell. Those obviously aren't the target fish for the trawl, so they must be bi-catch . It's a damn shame to see the biodiversity in the ocean sacraficed in commercial trawler net's. I would like to see an outright ban on that type of gear. Not only does it result in unwanted and most often discarded catch, but it also destroys ocean seafloor habitat.
