GIJOES ad for wash down pump?????
I saw they had a wash down pump in the Sunday ad for 100 bucks. I want to add one to the Super Z. Is this a decent one? Did anyone buy it? Is that a fair price? Thanks!

Re: GIJOES ad for wash down pump?????
Zaq, I'm not familiar with the Joes unit, but just check the GPH it puts out and compare it to a pro-blaster (they sell them at West Marine, Boaters World, etc.)I have the pro-blaster (only $170) and it sprays really hard. If you get a blaster, just don't use it to spray your ND.

Re: GIJOES ad for wash down pump?????
I think mine is like 4.5 GPM and the one at Joes (I checked it on their ad) was 3.5, which is plenty. Actually, the pro-blaster is 3.5 (I think that might be the one Joes has on sale because the pro-blaster sells normal price at Boatersworld for 129.00) I dont' think I have a pro-blaster, maybe I have a flo-jet? Northriver installed it for me and had to swap it out for a smaller sized one that fit in a small space, so I can't remember which one I ended up with, but 3.5 GPM will be fine.

Re: GIJOES ad for wash down pump?????
You have to drill a hole below the waterline, and attach the fitting so that that doesn't become problematic. Not rocket science, but the penalties are steep for fouling up. You have to make sure that it doesn't leak, and also that it doesn't become a siphon.
I have the one that North River installed - I don't know what it is, but it might be a flo jet. All I know is, it sure is handy. It's worth the effort and cost to install. Get one of the self coiling hoses.

Re: GIJOES ad for wash down pump?????
They aren't too difficult to install, depending on how easy it is to access the bilge on your boat. You will need to hook it to the battery, install a switch, drill a hole in the boat and connect a through-hull below the water line, not too difficult. My bilge wasn't easy to access and I wanted the pump installed in a real tight spot so I had Northriver do it last fall. They charged $170 for the install but it looks and works great.

Re: GIJOES ad for wash down pump?????
ZaQ- I just bought a washdown pump from Joes for 79.99. It's an Attwood and it pumps 4.0 gpm, self priming, 4ft suction lift. I got it because mine wasn't working. But I was cleaning out the boat before Sturgeon fishing last weekend and just happened to hit the button and it came on. I used it while fishing and it worked just fine. So I've got one available if your'e interested. Brand new in the box for a steal $75.00.

Re: GIJOES ad for wash down pump?????
Just another comparison, Cabelas sells the ShurFlo Blaster that puts out 3.5 GPM for $89.99 not including shipping. Comes with a handy dandy nozel. I installed myself and yes it is a bit of work, but I also think it is sooooo nice to have.
Have fun!!!!!!!!!

Re: GIJOES ad for wash down pump?????
I went there and opened it up it comes with pump, coil hose and spray nozzel. You have to buy switch, wire, and fitting and hose to install. It was 3.5 gph with 40 psi.
I guess if i'm gonna spend some money I'll wait till I can buy trim tabs for my Hewes Searunner it really needs it.

Re: GIJOES ad for wash down pump?????
ZaQ, No it just has the two lead wires into the pump one of which is fused. I already had all that stuff since I was replacing the pump only.
Sorry Dude

Re: GIJOES ad for wash down pump?????
I think this one said it sprayed 3 GPM. How much does the pro-blaster give?
Keith, you think 100 bucks for a wash down is expensive?

Re: GIJOES ad for wash down pump?????
I have one of 'Joe's special' washdown pump kits on hold and I am picking it up later today. BTW, the ad price ends Saturday, so if you want one, you best hurry! I don't know when I'll get around to installing it, but I'll let you know if there are/were any problems.

Re: GIJOES ad for wash down pump?????
Take a look at the Jabsco water puppy pumps. They have a lift of over 4 feet so they can be used as a extra bilge pump or washdown depending on suction and discharge hose placement.
