Default Video games for kids

Anyone know a good source for information for video games for kids? I'm looking for suggestions for titles, and some review of the title that will indicate a) whether my kids are likely to like it and b) whether I should be concerned about any content in the game.

If anyone has some suggestions for playstation games appropriate for 8 to 12 year olds, I'd love to hear them.

Cabela's Big Game Hunter
Ecco the Dolphin
Treasure Planet
All Spyro Games - cool (my wife and I even got Hooked
SSX - snowboarding
Jak and Daxter
There are tons of racing games that are neat - 4x4 Offroad, Grand Tourismo, etc.

That's what I know...

We are super picky about games, movies, music, etc.

What kind of games are they interested in?

Sports
First Person Shooters
Platform (Mario type stuff)

What rating are you limiting them to? Mature, Teen, or less? Boys or girls or maybe it doesnt matter?

Grand Theft Auto III- Vice City...........just kidding. Your kids would probably try to carjack you in the driveway after playing it a couple times.

I have a PS2 but all my games are either sports or remorselessly violent, like the one where the angry angler tries to pick off PWC riders with a variety of weapons, including his own North River......oops, sorry, that one hasn't been released yet. Still working on it.

Yeah, Pump, I've got the list of games for me, it's my 8 and 11 year old that I'm trying to stock up for. So Manhunt just won't cut it, know what I mean?

I'm kind of middle of the road in terms of what I'll let the kids play. I'm not too worried that they'll turn into homicidal maniacs if they shoot up a few aliens. I just don't want video games teaching human anatomy to my kids, if you know what I mean. I think I'm going to get Gran Turismo for the boy, and a cd burner and subscription to Rhapsody for my daughter.

About the North River programming - if you need a few action shots of a NR sled busting up a PWC to program from, you just let me know, and we can work something out.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">I'd like a racing game for my son, who is a mature 8. So probably still an "E" rating, though some of the "T" games probably aren't too out of the question. My daughter would be more interested in the platform or simulation games. She's a pretty sophisticated 11, going on 19.
