Shasta Lake Trout Derby Oct 17th & 18th

Well my old friends and I entered the Shasta Derby. Now I have never said I am much of a trout fisherman my specialty is His Majesty the King and Lakers , I can hold my own on those two. But Rainbow Trout, I am on the learning curve still. Thursday and Friday we took back 49 fish to my houseboat and returned some 50 bass to the lake. It was great fishing with old friends again.

The surface tempertaure on the lake was 63 to 65 degrees all 4 days, When we entered the clear water of the McCloud river
the surface temp went down to 52 degrees with in 100' of entering the river

I don't think we even placed, but we had a great time on the water. We stayed on my houseboat and ate vary well for four days. Think we all gained 10lbs , this is our 2nd year in the derby. Just five friends having a great time
eating all the things old guys should not be eating.
