I heard this puzzle on NPR this weekend and thought it was pretty fun to try and figure out.
There is a famous singer, recognizable to both young and old, whose last name has 9 letters. If you remove 4 letters from the middle of this person's last name (middle meaning not including the first or last letter), you can rearrange them to make a word. By closing up the hole created by removing these four letters, the remaining letters IN ORDER create a second word that is a synonym of the first.
Who is the singer, and what are the two words?
