Newbee story; you guys are gonna hate me...

Been lurking for a while, I really like this board! I dated a girl about a hundred years ago (okay, 22 years), when I was young and didn't realize a good thing when I had it (her). I broke her little heart, and she ran away to put a couple hundred miles between us. Seventeen years pass, during which time we both were married and had kids, and I caught fishing fever. I'd been a divorced and raising my kids by myself for a few years (loooong story) when out of the blue, she calls me up. Her marriage went kaflooie and she escaped to her sister's place in the town where I also live. The rest of the story is, she got divorced, we rekindle what we had before, except now we're older and wiser (?), and in the divorce, she keeps (and pays for) the boat. The boat is a 20' Duckworth jet sled (!), with 351 Ford motor, air ride seats, full cover, heater, this is a dee-luxe fishing boat! It's sorta like the joke about the lonely hearts ad that goes, "wanted, attractive female who can cook, clean, etc., and has boat; send picture of boat." I realize that most newbee stories involve fishing trip catastrophes or the best fihing day ever, but thought you'all might like this one, just to know that it COULD happen!

I've got one of those hardtop ducks too. My wife liked it better than I did but what the heck, getting the wife to say OK is half the battle. She like the beach better than fishing but doesn't mind if I go a lot.

Sorry it took so long to answer your Q's. As for the other guy's boat, he took (and sold to finance a meth binge) the kicker, sonar, and anchor. I bought the sonar and anchor setup, and we just troll on the big motor with a couple of buckets over the side (that way we can run the heater). She would rather that I drive when we're fishing, but I'm the Gilligan when we're pulling the tube or skiing. The boat has a controller for the kicker, so if we get one, no one has to man the tiller in the rain! I must say, going from never having a boat to such a beast is a little intimidating. I'm still a rookie skipper, so I'm VERY cautious, too cautious for some. But she (we) are still paying on it, plus, I swim like a rock!
