Broken Lami?
I broke my Lamiglass yesterday on a fish. I was wondering if anyone has experience with this concerning Lamiglass co. I do not have my original receipt and was wondering what my options are at this point?

Call Lamiglas and see what kind of help they can be. I have always found them to go the extra mile to help me out. They are a solution oriented company.

Re: Broken Lami?
I have taken many broken rods to lamiglas and the they have always treated me good, they would either give me a new one or fix the broken half and send it to me in a couple weeks, I think they charge ten bucks for shipping if I remember correctly.

Re: Broken Lami?
Lamiglas has good customer service. I have driven up to Woodland and delt directly with them in person and have had good results.

Re: Broken Lami?
Thanks it sounds like I will try to give them a call Monday. That steelhead sure tastes great, but might turn out to be my most expensive fish yet.

Anyone know how they "fix" a broken half?
Do they somehow glue the broken pieces back together, or do they get a new half-blank secction, fit it on your other half, and then re-wrap the guides?

Re: Broken Lami?
Lamiglas has hundreds of tips for their most popular rods already made up for replacement purposes.
They also have boxes full of broken rods that customers have turned in. Many of these are given to people who reclaim mainly the guides and then use them to teach rod building to worthy kids. At least they used to do this and I assume that they still do.
I cannot imagine how anyone could criticise Lamiglas's warrenty practices.

Re: Broken Lami?
Well I got a response to my email from Lamiglass: Send broken pole a note on how pole broke and 20$ check there warranty guy checks it and lets you know if it is under warranty. I just spent 24$ shipping it to them. Well I guess its time to wait and see what they say. I am trying to be positive about this until further notice.

Re: Broken Lami?
Tred23,
I have sent numerous broken rods to Lamigals and it has cost less than half of that if sent by the US Post Office.
I have delt with Lamiglas for a lot of years and have always found them to be more than fair. They are very experienced and can tell pretty well how the rod was broken but if the rod is reasonably new they will normally replace it at no charge regardless of how it was broken unless it is really beat up.

Re: Broken Lami?
It would have been 1/2 that, but the box was 10$ and it kind of caught me off guard. Live and learn. How long do you think it will take to get an answer? or approximately?

Re: Broken Lami?
Tred73,
If you have to ship a rod again just go to your local hardware store and get a length of PVC pipe to ship it in. Wrao the rod in bubble wrap and stick it in the PVC pipe. That is how most of the blank manufacturers ship blanks. It is very cheap and very durable. If you were closer I would just give you some.
They should contact you in just a couple of days after they receive the broken rod. If they do not contact you in a couple of days give their service deptmenat a call. I have found the Lamiglas people to be great people to work with and found that they will bend over backwards to be fair.
One thing that you might want to keep in mind though is the Lamiglas rods have a justified reputation for being very durable and if the rod did not break the first time you used it then it was not really a defect in the rod that caused it to break.

Re: Broken Lami?
I just got one back from Lami, they replaced the broken tip and charged me 43.$ and I picked it up. Shipping would have been 20.$. Nice people to work with, but it did take them 3 weeks.

Re: Broken Lami?
So worst case I am out 24+20+43= 87$ and 4 weeks wait time. I like this rod so it is worth it to me. I do not understand SNAPAGLASS comment. I have never had a problem with Lami and I bought my first in highschool and that is now 20 plus years ago.

Re: Broken Lami?
Thanks everyone for all of your patience. We have had a tremendous fishing season and unfortunately have seen more rods than we are use to come in for repair. We are working as fast as we can to catch up and will hopefully cut the turnaround time down soon. If we have tip sections or rod replacements in stock for your models we are still turning rods around and getting them back in your hands rather quickly. However we are seeing a high amount of older models in for repair, which require us to fit a matching blank tip, and then build it to match the butt section.
Thanks again and good luck.

For a $10 fee, Fishermans will send your rod to the factory. I did that and got back a new rod last year.

I've fished (not flossed) with Lami's & Loomis and found some good and some I didn't care for with both Co's but neither can I say had "snap'a'glass" qualities.
