Default Trolls beginning to pop up on ifish

It seems to me that there are trolls appearing on ifish, the link explains what they are and how to stop them.

I hope this helps to keep ifish a great place the mods(btw thanks for all you guys do! ) can't do it all for us.

Hmmm....under "Playtime Trolls" it lists "a lack of personal information" as a characteristic. Sounds kind of like *** Clerk to me. J/K

Hey- trolling threads should be on the main board. I'm going to complain to the mods!

This is one reason you will never see me post any of my personal info on here. It seems like some of you get a little too comfortable on here and forget that this is the INTERNET. Anybody can get on here and browse around. I see an awful lot of you putting your phone numbers, first and last name etc. on here.
I have never even posted my full name on here and won't.

Another problem I have is the powers that be's policy that if you are posting a complaint about an advertiser you have to post your first and last name. You are asking someone to open themselves up to virtually the whole world by doing this. NO THANKS.. I'll keep my complaints to myself.

BrokeItOff,

What are you trying to say, or are you just dangling a carrot in front of us? .

DRHALL;

No dangling of anything here... it just seems that there are a few posters trying to incite rather than participate in what I find an informative and entertaining on-line community.

As for *** Clerk, "How did you get my driver's license photo?"

HeHe...That's a hoot! On any given day many of the post on ifish could be "Trolls" according to that article.

Before I found ifish I spent my time on a site called "The Bass Fishing Home Page", it was based out of Virginia. The BFHP made, and makes, ifish look small, with people in most states of the U.S. posting. Well, that's the place I first heard the term troll, and boy let me tell ya' some of those people were pro trollers. The only difference was that everybody didn't get all huffy about it, the guys that got "Hooked" or "Gut Hooked" took it for the fun it was supposed to be, without getting all upset over the fact that they fell for a practical joke.

Now, According to that article somebody that posts fish pictures/stories on ifish and has people saying things like "don't take that native out of the water" or "That fish ain't ### pounds" or "You didn't catch THAT many fish THAT day", and keeps coming back, seems to me to fit the desciption of "Trollers". Heck, we even seem to have the group "Trollers" here on ifish.

Sometimes "Trolling" can be some funny stuff if your not too uptight and have a good sense of humor.

***...I just couldn't resist, you were the first thing that came to mind. Kind of like the "Sta-Puft" marshmallow man in Ghost Busters.

My apologies for causing you to scurry back into your hole/cubical.

Playtime Trolls:
Playtime trolls are relatively easy to spot, but they may not be apparent to the naive user. There isn't a single set of characteristics that applies to playtime trolls, but you can look for some or all of the following signs:
...a mixture of friendly posts with a confrontational style of interaction
...the use of provocative language and sweeping generalisations about certain topics or categories of people
...restarting topics that have already been done
use of language that encourages the dialogue to enter topics that are controversial and likely to upset some team members
...if other group members respond to the suspected troll's posts, then you may have to consider some of the responses outlined for tactical or strategic trolls.

SMJ, I think i understand you correctly, it's not the people that comment (like me) it's the people who post the info that makes them comment... that group you speak of wouldn't be of the vegetable persuasion would it??

My name is Louis and i'm a Troller

The first step in recovery is addmitting it
