I know a guide in troy and try to talk to on a regular basis. typically right now is when the fish start showing. he said the water's still low and clear, but fish are there to be taken. I don't know if its worth the 8 hour drive to fish low water! I would wait till end of november and hopefully the snow won't be too bad.

My boss just got back from his annual 3 day trip. Water was cooler than anticipated, 1 steelhead on the surface skater, 6 on nymphs/wets. Air temps were dropping he was happy to beat it out before it got colder. He said fishing was great as usual.

Smoking em is good, but actually those fish are incredible tasty baked or Bbq'd.

Don't let the distance traveled fool you....they are good eating out of the Ronde.
