Weird Food Combos
What's the weirdest or most unusual food combination(s) that you've ever heard or seen eaten? I think it was Elvis who liked the peanut butter and bannana sandwiches. When I heard it, I just had to try it...believe it or not, they're not too bad! I think my weirdest or most unusual food combo was, I had an ex girlfriend of mine that loved to eat peanut butter and pickle sandwiches...YUCK!! I think it will be pretty interesting to see what people have seen or heard that has been eaten out there?

Re: Weird Food Combos
When my son was younger, he always wanted strawberry jam and parmesan cheese sandwiches. We were fairly grossed out, but then he started eating oatmeal with saltine crackers. He's a good kid, but always has been just a little bit odd...

I have two favorit wierd foods. Number one is eggs and toast. Does'nt sound weird until You eat it this way. Toast medium coated with butter and grape jelly. Place egg (over hard) on toast. Never fails to gross my wife out. Second is mayonaise covered toast. don't knock it until you try it.

Re: Weird Food Combos
That would be peanut butter, fried egg and cheddar sandwiches. Grilled after assembly is best. Grilling melts the cheese!
Good stuff and they stick to your ribs!

Ketchup on macoroni and cheese. Peanutbutter and butter sandwich. Pickles on tacos.
And here is a secret family recipe for you. Melt together 1 cup of caro syrup and 1 cup of peanutbutter. When it is good and melted pour it over a bag of Frito's corn chips. Let it sit for 15 minutes and enjoy.

Re: Weird Food Combos
My favorite food in the world is as follows: 2 toasted Eggo waffles smothered in chocolate peanut butter ice cream, topped with a brownie, Hersheys chocolate and caramel syrups, Nestle Quik and peanut butter. I suppose you could put whipped cream on it too, but that would probably make it gross. If you ever have trouble sleeping, this will put you night-night within about 45 minutes. Oh yeah...

Re: Weird Food Combos
My mother will sit and eat a whole orange peel for lunch.
My father was raised very poor in the back woods of north California .
Ive been told (more than once ) about chicken feet soup. Just toss them in(the feet) and let them boil till the meat comes off, strain the bones and wa-la.
The other I remember well was pig head soup.
Kill the pig ,,, brush its teeth, and toss it in a pot to boil till the skull was clean , remove skull and dine. Yum, yum. id. painter

Re: Weird Food Combos
Hey...since Turkey Day is upon us...and Jan is thrifty...we have a lot of leftovers.
These concoctions of course have to be named. You know...that big plate of Turkey Dinner leftovers..."Gobble Glop"
On a side note...I like mixing up whole kernel corn with my mashed potates. The name?? "**** ". Oh my...it got edited!! Take the P for potatoes and the ORN for corn and you'll have it.
Go figure.

Amerman cured eggs, wrapped with brined sardine, in a fresh bay seaweed wrapper.
I keep a little wasabi and soy in the boat, just in case we need a snack.

All I know is I can never make it through a whole day of sturgeon fishing without polishing off a jar of roll mop, then wash it down with a cold beer. I love that stuff especially the pickle!

Re: Weird Food Combos
Oh yeah, peanut butter and banana sandwich - with honey and cinnamon!
I used to like peanut butter and pickle, but it has to be my mom's "bread & butter" pickles ... we'll never see those again :depressed: .
Still talked about is the time (college days) I mixed a can of jack mackeral and ripe avocado resulting in "jackamole." It wasn't bad, & it kept the roommates from stealing your food.

How`s about pancakes w/peanutbutter and a few good drops of tobasco sauce and syrup on top. Also another favorite, scrambled eggs w/any kind of jelly or jam, preferably strawberry or grape. Bob.

Re: Weird Food Combos
Two old 1950's pore folk lunches:
Thin-sliced soft white bread slathered in butter and mayo, stacked high with alternating slices of Walla Walla Sweet onions and sweet pickle chips, then lightly salted. Served with ice-cold milk.
And ----
A glass of cold milk stuffed with broken up pieces of white bread, then peppered, mooshed up and eaten with a spoon.
Yum.

This may sound odd but really worth the effort...
deep fried jalopeno poppers filled with a creamy peanut butter and bacon bits mixture. You ned to dip them in a berry jam and cream cheese mixture before eating them. Really good though.

I get a lot of comments on my favorite sandwich but it's really not THAT weird.
Pita bread, turkey or ham, swiss and a bunch of cheetohs to make it crunchy.
Try it!!!

Re: Weird Food Combos
Bill does the mayo on cottage cheese thing, but then again, he does mayo on everything, including, fresh off the spoon. Nearly makes me loose my dinner.
How bout this one, and YES! I have seen him do it more than once. Peanut butter, mayo, and pickles! ARGH! My kids and I can barely say it!
Here's mine, though.
French toast with melted cheese on top, and syrup.
YUM!

My least favorite weird food combo is not a combo really. As a kid, dragged around by my diplomat dad, we had dinner at the U.S.Embassy in Seoul, Korea. We were served a national delicacy. However, I was unable to bring the sea-slug to my mouth and instead watched the live critter crawl out of the soup and onto the dish.

Re: Weird Food Combos
The purists among us make their tuna fish milkshakes only with fine vanilla ice cream.
Hey, want something really good, though? Seriously. Spoon a bunch, a real pile, of brown sugar on your pancakes or waffles tomorrow morning after buttering, then with a spoon add a bit of hot coffee to the brown sugar. Makes the most incredible syrup. We had a lot of that during the war when my Dad ran a food warehouse at Vancouver Barracks. He had no syrup, but lots of brown sugar and coffee. If you try it you will never use maple syrup again.

I used to work with a guy who ate an odd sandwich. I always got grossed out till I tried it. Its actually quite good and it will sure stay with you for a while and not many people will ask you if you have any extra food.
White bread, miracle whip, peanut butter and turkey bologna sandwich.
Man I'm thinking of making 1 now.
Yum,
