Re: AppleCup....Civil War
Just got back from Pullman, two hour drive from Ellensburg to Easton. A little snow and it turns into a parking lot.
Is there any truth to the statement that the siren at Husky stadium is actually being used to signal a shift change for the NCAA investigators?

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
Nahh, AM...........it's like this.
What? You guys should be ready to just roll over and die........why fight it? Half a decade of futility will turn into a half-dozen years on Saturday.
Last year........Cougs #3, Dawgs stink.......but not bad enough to lose to the Cooooooogs, or Beavs, or Ducks.
DON'T LOOK NOW...........but the Dawgs are looking to wrap up the mythical "NW Championship" again this season. Beavs down, Ducks down, and just some goofy Coogs standing in the way. You're next, kitty cats.
Bring some roses to the game, though. You can dry your tears with them.
That better, RR?

I'm worried, the Cougs will be starting the number three QB (Swogger) and the the Huskies should be well rested after taking saturday off to watch Cal run up and down the field.

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
Swogger played just fine. Don't worry about him. You need to worry about them playing that gimp, Kegel. He is all crippled and has no emotion. Swogger is 10 times the player that kegel is.
Also, I am going to love seeing "The Firm" have aan up close and personal meeting with Ms. Heisman.

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
way to talk smack aunty m...
now i would think you, being of the more sensitive sex, would be a cougar fan.. girly boys wearing tutus...., well thats just sensitive men getting in touch with their feminine sides. surely you have watched a dog or two, laying around all day, all that discusting licking and rear end scooting on the carpet... not to mention what happens if you leave your leg extended in their presence... so given this analysis dear aunty... wouldnt you rather be a fan of the mighty cougars instead... GO COUGS.. say it with us all now aunty, slowly at first than louder as your throat gets accustomed to shouting victorious statements... go cougs go cougs go cougs... joco

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">They've all been killed. It happened when the Huskymoblie bounced off UNR, crossed traffic, was t-boned by Arizona and then was run over several times by Cal. It was horrifying.
We have some mechanics working on it right now......they're hoping to get the rig upright and get at least 3 seats installed (for every Husky fan left in the state) before Saturday. If they don't work quick, it's gonna be a short race for the Dawgs.
I think a little sugar in the Cougmobile's oil wouldn't hurt..........

Stzll, one should never foreget their past(were Cougs remember  )....so it would be no suprise.... " Every Halloween the trees are full of underware...every spring the toilts exploid"......anything can happen in this game and this year
I feel we should have won the last 2 years, we had the better team..... but you need luck too!

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
AuntyM heres a few qualities one needs to be a sucessful Coug.
1. must be an overachiever....get more or do more with less
2. always root for or be the underdog,...unless said underdogs are the Dawgs
3. have a dislike for arrogance....enough said
4. be able to party everybody else under the table......or @ least during said college years.
5. be able to go 67 years betwween Rose bowls....
so if 3 or more of the above applies to you, you can be a WSU COUGAR
GO COUGS !!!!

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
Live vicariously if you need to.
Right now, I understand completely. What do you expect, though? It's about the only thing that's kept Husky fans on the tall edge of the cliff.
I mean, could you imagine losing to OSU and UO and THEN having to play the Cougs after the UNR/AZ/CAL debacles? <shudder>
We still have the mythical "NW Championship" on the line. You can shoot me if I ever say that again.

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
DanS, The oregon teams love to run their mouth especially after us Washington boys pretty much took them out of any running of any substantial bowl game. We could team together (could you imagine the thought?) and take on the Beavs and the Ducks in a Washington vs. Oregon game. The oregon teams might be looking for shelter from the fallout after that.
Swogger will be fine and the Husky offense will be shut down by "The Firm".
Too bad the civil war couldn't end up with both teams losing, but if I'd have to pick, I'd go Beavs.
Go COUGARS!

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
Not really worried, just trying to hook a Husky fan.
Dan S, you have got to be the last true Dawg fan still on deck, the rest have jumped ship. If anyone is fishing around Montlake try a crimson/gray corky, lots of Dawgs in the water, not much fight in them, but what the heck fishing is fishing. GO COUGS!

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
I heard that there was recently an accident in Redmond, where Bill Gates ran his car into a ditch and was pinned. A passerby helped him get out of his Lexus just before it burst into flames.
Gates told his rescuer, "Man, that was close. Thanks. If there is anything I can get for you, anything, to repay you, just name it."
The rescuer humbly glanced away and replied, "well, I'm pretty well fixed, I don't need anything."
Gates was undeterred. "There has to be something you want."
"Well, my kids like things that are Mickey Mouse."
So Gates bought him the Oregon football teams.

Man, Neutron, I thought you fell off the planet. I was figuring on some clowning from you after Reno, AZ, and Cal. Oh well, our games against the Ducks and Beavs were the only thing keeping me from getting clowned on all over the northwest.
Just one more win isn't asking too much, is it?

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
Got these via email today!!!!! GO COUGS!!!!!!!!!
1) A UW alum, a WWU alum, and a WSU alum are all walking along a beach and find a lamp sitting in the sand. They rub the lamp and a genie comes out. Since there are three of them, the genie offers each person one wish.
The WWU alum requests that his school be as well respected as UW and WSU.
The genie grants his wish and he goes off happy.
The UW grad is next and his request is that the genie put a wall around his entire campus to keep out the Cougars who always come in and mess things up. The genie grants his wish and he goes off happy.
This leaves the Cougar alum who asks the genie to tell him about the wall.
The genie explains that it is 10 ft tall, 2 ft thick, and made of solid concrete. The Coug thinks for a minute, smiles, then replies, "Fill it with water."
2) Why do the Huskies have the highest unsolved murder rate in the country?
Because there's no dental records, and their DNA all matches...
3) What has 44 legs and sucks?
The Husky starters.
4) <Did not make the cut - cb>
5) I heard they are replacing the turf on Husky Stadium with paper.
That's because the Huskies look better on paper.

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
Nice Job Huskies
Oh Well, The whole Pac-10 is all messed up this year. Poor Beavs loose and Oregon is crappy until the Civil War. WSU is picked to be last starting the season and was first in the Pac-10 for awhile. UW is hit and miss and suprisingly is hit again against the cougs. Dang it anyhow.
There's always next year............
Nice Job DanS for sticking with your team when the fly-by-nighters abandoned you long ago.
I guess this is my crow eating.

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
That's too bad, Cougs........no, really.
Man, I was so stressed out during that game.........I wore a path in the carpet in front of the TV.
Way to not roll over Dawgs. 27 years without a losing season is something to play hard for.
Good game Dawgs.

Didn't the Ducks didn't beat Michigan earlier in the season???? Pac 10 is wacky but it doesn't matter if a team is first for a while, what counts is when the dust settles. Really wanted to see USC play for the big one, cougs to roses and Ducks in the holiday. I guess Swogger doesn't like Pasedena??? With all the turnovers, I wouldn't say the dawgs were a hit. The cougs layed an egg today.

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
I am better today, the bleeding has stopped for now
My gosh, the dawgs and the ducks, definitely "D" day in the rivalries
Who can figure the PAC 10?
Well, between an untimely passing of my oldest sister last week, which we had her funeral on opening day of my yearlong anticipated elk hunt (not that I gave a rip about the hunt at the time). Then hunting my arse off the rest of the week, marching like a Hun all over the mountains of Grande Ronde, living in a trailer with 3 other chili eating, snoring, and bodily function sharing Wapiti obsessed men, only to come up without. Thinking of only getting back in time to watch my beloved Beavs bail me out. Oh well :depressed:
Next year, instead of staring down at the Casino all week, I am going to spend my elk trip at the casino.

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
Roger, good Duck win yesterday....I didn't watch the game, might catch the rebroadcast today.
My above post wasn't directed to my Duck friends, just the trolls. We did lay a egg yesterday....a big one.....again!
The Huskies have our number for sure. One of these days with the Rose or NC is on the line for them we'll get payback like '82-'83.
Good luck in your bowl game...which one you headed to?

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
That's good Neutron, go into hiding when your "flash in the pan ducks" get crushed by the cougs and keep on falling. Looks like they were hit with a 3.5" Super Mag. Then when your team manages to get a win over a much better team, you run your mouth. How many wins do your Ducks have? How many wins do the cougars have? I thought so.
This trash talking between us all is meant to be in good fun. Most will throw a good jab now and then and I believe are not meant to attack the person in general, just the team they support. Calling me Mrs. Carp is classy as 1st grade insult. Good Work on that one...
Once again Huskies, you stepped up and took care of buisness when it needed to be done.

<font size="2" face="verdana,arial,helvetica">I can.
USC is likely to steamroll you.
The Beavs could earn lots of respect by derailing the Toejams.
The Cougs can hear the Roses going **poof**
The Dawgs can only wonder what might have been.
The Ducks can't talk much....both teams from WA owned them.
The Beavs can talk less because UO owned them along with both teams from WA.
We probably won't see a Big-10/Pac-10 matchup for the Roses.....unless the Beavs stop USC.
The Holiday Bowl is nice, but it's still been since 1916 since WSU won the Roses.
The Cougs' biggest enemy is UW....UW's biggest enemy is UW.
Barbara Hedges triggers a gag reflex in most mammals.
UW hasn't had a losing relular season record since 1976.
UW and UO are Jekyll and Hyde.....
OSU would be tough with a better passing game.....teams key on Jackson and OSU has no answer.
WSU exceeded all expectations.....except in the Apple Cup.
The other 3 NW schools had disappointing seasons.
UW still has the mythical NW Championship.
I stressed out WAY too much watching the Apple Cup.
The COugs prolly stressed out WAY too much after the Apple Cup.
Oh, and I love college football.
That's about it.

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
DanS
Thanks for your "summary" of the Pac-10..... Unfortunately, I think you hit the nail right on the head..... Pac-10 is a tough place to play, any week.
Oh Well.... 9 - 3 is still a good season. That was an extremely painful loss. Dogs had our number.....
Go Cougs!!!!!!

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
Well said DanS, that was right on the money.

Sure would be nice to won the Rose Bowl once within a 100 year span....
Go Beavers!!!! De-rail the Trojan's. If the rest of the Pac 10 is messed up, let's make theirs as well. The beavers have a s good of a chance as any. Good Luck!!
More Importantly, GO WAZZU!!!!

Re: AppleCup....Civil War
Well oversized gold fish... "bad season" and "better team"... let me SPELL it out for you... Better team: game is played on the field with a good bowl appearance in the balance. Oregon also dominated the current ranked 4th team in the country. Ask Arizona what a "bad" season is? 8-4 ain't too shabby. I like the cougs and Bill Doba,
they too had a good season. With Kegel healthy, they are playing for roses. But NO!!! Both teams really stunk it up, the cougs a little worse. The beavos might as well stay home from SC. A little heat applied to Derek Anderson and it's all over.
