Truck in water on Sandy River (pic)
On my way in this morning I noticed this rig in the Sandy River at the Lewis and Clark ramp. Anybody recognize the rig? I'm guessing it has a boat trailer attached to the back of it. Big bummer! Hope nobody got hurt.

 That is bad. Hookers probably right though. There must be at least one fish holding behind that rig.

Roof line looks like a Chevy Astro van perhaps.

Re: Truck in water on Sandy River (pic)
I don't think you will find a trailer attached. Every year this happens, someone steals a vehicle and lets it roll down the ramp into the Sandy...just guess there is some rush they get from this.

Re: Truck in water on Sandy River (pic)
Let's see
Drain Plug - Check
Parking Brakes - Oops
Launched at the same ramp yesterday - low and slow
Must have been a big boo boo or it's stolen
What do you think - plugs or bait from this spot ?

Re: Truck in water on Sandy River (pic)
At cathedral park ramp on sunday we saw (and this person might also have seen) one of those "aqua car" things. Person drove straight down the ramp and into the willy. went out for about a 5 minute cruise then park to and up the ramp.
kind of looked like a old t-bird, but I could not make out the name or maker (anyone know?) it was red and might have been a convertable.
For sturgeon we caught 8 (1 double) but no keeper length. All the fish were in the willy.
smelt for bait.

Is it legal to have a loaded rod in a vehicle or fish from an anchored SUV?

Re: Truck in water on Sandy River (pic)
I drove down to the river to check out the levels on my way to work and did a swerve/double take when I saw that rig out there. The first thing I thought of was the post a while ago about the 4-step trailer backing process and all of the response that posting got. I still smile when I think about those pictures.

As an insurance professional, I can say without any hestitation ... that's a total loss ... you watch, it'll show up on a car lot somewhere on 82nd Ave with a clean title, buyer beware. Better look under the carpet to see if there are any smolts or crawfish.

I fished the Sandy today and that's all the locals were talking about down at the ramp.
I guess they pulled it out sometime today.

That actually looks like a decent fishing rig...whatta tragedy!!
However, I've got a buddy who traded in his '99 Tahoe for a half-#$@ '99 Lexus, and my advice to him is to follow in the footsteps of the guy with the Jeep! What kind of fisherman drives a Lexus???

Re: Truck in water on Sandy River (pic)
Netone, I believe you are probably right. This is most likely a dumped, stolen vehicle.
I live behind the gun club near 174th & Powell near Johnson Creek and there is a Toyota car under the bridge that showed up in January. Don't know how they're going to get it out. I have pulled jet-skis, safes and bikes out of the creek. People have dumped construction debris, household trash and stolen cars on my street.
It seems that some people think that rural areas or waterways are ideal places to dump anything they don't want anymore, cars, couches, pets, etc.

Re: Truck in water on Sandy River (pic)
At one time there was a boat launch on the east side of the Willamette River below the Sellwood Bridge. The launch was closed due to too many stolen vehicles launched in the river. I think there was at least 8 or 9 in there at the same time.
