Default Torison axle problem

I went to put the sled in the water last weekend and the fender was rubbing the tire on the back axle. Got the boat home without losing a tire, but the galvanized fender showed some signs of heat from the rubbing. I have torison axles, so I pulled the splined arm off and rotated it clockwise to give me some clearance on the tire. Pulled the trailer a few miles, launched the boat and then brought it home. It settled to almost the same place with the fender just touching the tire. This is my first torison axle setup. Can you rebuild one side, or do you just throw it away and put in a whole new axle? The make of the trailer is "Tricker". Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just went through the same thing with my torsion axle on my Tricker Trailer. Mine was a UFP 3500 lb axle. No rebuilding them. Tricker was alot of help in getting a new one under warranty from UFP. Tricker had one on the shelf and was willing to trade and handle the details with UFP. Bad news is, I hear Tricker is not longer in business.

Is the boat or trailer sitting level from side to side?

But to answer your question you can't rebiuld just one side. Rotate it two cogs and make sure the other side is on the same cog (from the same reference point). Hope that makes sense.

You need to have room for the axel to work. That is, you need to have clearence between the fender and tire.

In light of MOLDY's bad news, you can probably get a direct replacelment axel from Six Roblee's

Yes the trailer is level, side to side. When I rotate the arm to give me clearance from the fender to the tire, it only seems to stay put for a while. Then it seems to settle back down. So something is definitely moving tha shouldn't be. I went on Tricker's website to get an e-mail address and my e-mail came back as undeliverable. Thanks so much for the help guy's. I will try six Roblee's

You might try a Google search for Unique Functional Products (UFP)and then give their customer service a call. You might just luck out with a cheap fix to your problem.

Well, it has been a struggle, but I am making headway. Got ahold of 6 Roblee's and they were super. They could get the axle (bare) for just under $200 plus shipping. The problem is the time it takes to get it made and shipped. We are talking 3 weeks. After chewing up the nails and swallowing them (chewing real good) to give me time to settle down and think objectively, we hit on a possible solution. The guy at 6 Roblee's sent in a warranty form, with my information on it, UFP replied and I have a new axle being put together.
I really appreciate all of the suggestions to help me get this thing back in the water.
