Default looking for info on Klamath lake and area fishing

Recently relocating from The central coast area to Chiloquin.Looks as to be ALOT of lake waters. Can everybody tell me about the fishing and boating around there. I have a 25' cabin cruiser with an I/O ......What lakes are deep enough to launch my boat in near K-Falls ????? Anyone wishing to teach-our boat, gas and time will be wonderful. We will pay all the expenses of the boat & gas. Would love to learn to kokanee fish, lake trout and any other fish in the close proximity to Chiloquin/Klamath Falls area.

You should be able to take on klamath lake when it gets rough with that but you may want a map of the depths there is a pile of props and lower units at the marina & they have maps to. TL

That's bigger than what we usually see out here but it can be done with some caution. Follow TL's advice and get a depth chart of the lake. For the Kokes/Macks I would suggest investing in some downriggers if you don't already have them. You can jig for both species but downriggers allows you to cover a bunch more water at virtually any depth. Do a search on here, there are many, many posts on here with reports from all the surrounding lakes that will give lots of detail about all that you are inquiring about.

Good luck

klamath and agency connect and average 12 ft. depth but have 4 lb average red bands. just as easy to catch as a bankie as with a boat. odell has the kokanees and look towards bend for brown. streams and rivers all produce. lake of the woods, fish land, howards praire and hyatt lake also close.

klamath lake doesn't have a lot of hidden dangers, but there are some, but if the weather turn it can kill you and quick. they truly should have small craft warning at times.

I am sure that my boat is too big for these lakes here so I guess I will be fishing in only Odell lake.Geez. I have one downrigger but do not have a clue how it works.

The fish in klamath lake should be released in the summer. Taste like algae.

I grew up in Klamath, boating and fishing.

Your boat is pretty big for that area, and you will have trouble in a lot of locations launching and re-trailering. Many of the ramps are short/and or shallow. We had a 16' fiberglass bass/ski with a 115 Mercury. (In fact my parents still have it).

You boat would be awesome for fishing/camping at Lake Shasta, but I think you would be better off selling and re-sizing your boat for the area. To really take advantage of the region.

I recommend a 12'-*14' lightweight lake boat. Have a trailer, but get those bolt-on "shore" wheels for launching into small lakes/ponds. A small Jon Boat is good for that too. I always liked using an electric motor and/or oars, a small 4-stroke can be good for longer distances.

For the bigger lakes, I would recommend a 15-18' aluminum or fiberglass boat. A boat with a kicker, and a bow mount electric is nice for trout, kokanee, and being able to effectively fish a lot of the surrounding areas.

You find yourselft trailering on bumpy roads, and in marginal conditins (read... snowy icy). A good quality trailer with side load guides, bigger size tires, and solid/long bunks will help a lot. A lot of the best spots are on dirt roads...
