Default "Girl Scouts trap Alaska Beavers"

Read in the Salem paper this morning that one Girl Scout group up in Alaska has been asked by the Alaska Fish and Game Dept. to help them trap problem beavers. Looks like these young girls set up traps and help out the ADFG. Pretty cool. Of course PETA is up in arms over it. But, would it not be a cool daughter, wife, sister or girlfriend who could go out trapping, clean and skin, then tan the hides. Also they will use the hides for gloves etc. They want to even cook up the beaver. And I always thought that the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts had fun. Said they don''t offer merit badges for hunting beaver. That's to bad. Congratulations to a bunch of serious outdoor women. Maybe there should be a new TV program out now to compete with Shelly and Courtney.

Congratulations to that girl scout troop. At least Alaskan's know what is important. Remember, these animals are causing damage.
Here they want you to live trap them and transport the critters to a remote location.

A gal I work with here in the golden heart city is a girl scout troop leader of a different troop but knows them. She said the girls had a great time and learned a bunch. She said she is going to try to get her girls to do it if it comes up again. BTW it was raining here last saturday!!!reminded me of portland. Finally getting some snow now.

A Big Thumbs Up for Alaska and that Fairbanks Scout troop. Somebody trying to "educate", that is "to impart knowledge to", to "instruct"--what a novel idea. Sure beats the boob tube, mind numbing video games, and the typical babysitting mentality too often found in our society today. And not to turn them into Beaver Killers, but to teach them respsonsibility, and a hertitage that is rapidly disappearing. Let them draw their own conclusions. As for PETA, send them some (rotten)cheese.
