Yeah, I read it and I found it to be tired and boring. After reading a few pages, I went and looked for a new book. The author(s) spent too much time looking for controversy where there should be none. It reminded me of the theory that the US faked the moonlanding. Overall, the theories presented were very thin. It made the publishing company look cheap for allowing it to be printed.

I read it. Unless you are the most fervent Democrat, I think you'll find it a bit tiresome and reaching. The ideas that "Fox News is not objective" and "Conservatives have a strategy that they don't tell their opponents about" are hardly news any more. I appreciate Franken's position and fervor, but he comes off as a bit shrill in the book.

I just finished "A People's History Of The United States" by Howard Zinn, which I think is a little more interesting.

Holy Silver Hilton!

You finished A People's History. You're way hardcore.

I've had it 2 years and haven't surpassed 4 or 5 chapters-its just too heavy for me.

Yeah, it's a bit depressing, isn't it? I take a certain perverse pleasure in finding out how the mythology of how our country came to be differs from the reality.

If you liked at least the idea of reading Zinn, you may find "Ain't Nobody's Business If You Do", by Peter McWilliams interesting. It's a combination of a polemic on the flaws of laws against victimless crime, overlaid with a lot of great history about the origins of morals based legislative movements in the US.
