Whats Mother Nature?
My 7 yr old son asked me this question this morning. Found it a little tough to answer that in 7 yr old terms. Got any suggestions that might click a light in his head?

Re: Whats Mother Nature?
Since we have no idea what he's been told so far it's hard to say. What does he think Mother Nature is now? Have you asked him? That may be the starting point. "How come?" questions are the hardest ones to answer followed by "what if?".

Re: Whats Mother Nature?
I think that if my daughter asked me that I would have to say that mother nature is the babysitter to the earth and works for god.....she takes care of everything that is outside???

I like that one too....Thats a good start. I tried to explain the food chain and got about half way. He became distracted, and soon was questioning somthing else.

Re: Whats Mother Nature?
It really depends on your child's maturity level, what they have been told so far and what level of concepts he would understand.
You might want to get the background on the question. "Why do you ask?" is a good way to see where you need to take your answer.
Mother nature is the center figure in some non-Christain religions. Some people refer to the environment as mother nature. So you could tell him it is what some people call the environment.

Re: Whats Mother Nature?
Earth
Fire
Wind
Water
See the lightning strike the Earth and start a fire while the wind blows the rain in your face. That's Mother Nature when she is upset.
