Default The High and low of today

Just when you think the worst, the best can happen.

As I was readying to leave for work this morning, I went to put my "wallet" (wife and kids call it my "purse") in my brief case. This is not an ordinary wallet. It is more like a clutch in that it holds all of my credit cards and PDA. I always keep the money on a clip.

Anyway, I could not locate the wallet. Tore the house upside down and the car too. Then I tried to do the retrace thing. Last time I fully remember having it was yesterday at the grocery store. "Oh sh**" I left it in the grocery cart, in the parking lot. Sped off to the store. "Sorry, I do not see anything like that in our lost and found"

Anger developing at self.

So I drove to work trying to remember what cards were in there. Several. A couple of this major cards and that major cards, a gas card from every type of station, Store cards, Etc, Etc.

Crap, didn't want to spend the day canceling cards.

What I would really miss is the PDA. I am totally lost without it. Now I have to ask the wife what she wants for Christmas as the list I compiled was on the PDA.

Needless to say, not in a very good mood upon arriving at the office. Wondering why someone would not have turned in a lost item. Losing faith in humanity (actually just trying to divert anger onto someone other than myself for my own stupidity) Wondering if the individual in enjoying whatever they bought on the spontaneous shopping spree they got yesterday.

Walk in the office and see the voicemail light blinking. Thought occurs... my business cards were in the wallet, maybe I'll get lucky. First voice mail is a clerk from the grocery store I was just at. "Mr. *****, we have found your wallet and PDA, just come by and pick it up." Checked the time of the call, yesterday, shortly after I left the store.

I called and again and heard, "I don't see anything like that" "But I received a call from Ms. *** and ..."

Transfered to someone else. "Yes, It is right here in my desk drawer. We did not want to put it with the other stuff since there was so much in it"

WAY COOL!

I have a business trip coming up would need those credit cards. And now I don't have to look like a fool to the wife and show that I do pay attention to what she says (at least some of the time  )

The wife went by and picked it up. Seems everything is there. Talk about an emotional high and low. And all within about an hour. What a way to start the week.

Thank you to the GOOD person who turned it in

It was not a far reach to think the worst.

A good reminder to those of us who need to be reminded (me included), keep a list of cards and cancel phone numbers seperate from the wallet. Can you really remember every single thing in there?
