Default Prank phone calls and Hate mail from Ifish..

I didn't think that it would bother me as much as it has, but it has.

I have been posting some OPEN SEATS lately and have met some great ifisher's, people that I know I will fish with and converse with many times down the road.

When I post OPEN SEATS I usually put my cell phone number up on the board. Well someone out there (a lurker probably) has taken joy on pranking my phone. My caller ID only reads: PRIVATE or INCOMING. It sounds like different people doing it, but they sound like adults (at least in age)

It started off pretty inocent, with just some obscene comments, but now I don't answer the call if isn't a number I know.

As for the hate mail, it's only a couple of emails. I can understand why someone can be protective of a fishery, and most emails that I have received are very well writen, and not offensive. But the criticism has worn me down.
I don't even want to respond to any, because they obviously already know my opinion and feel the need to give me their's.

Sorry about all the complaining, but voicing it has helped already

Dont worry, I won't stop posting OPEN SEATS

I have, in the past, had someone email me about a topic rather than post it on the board. It ticked me off pretty good. They besically wrote what the board rules wouldn't allow them to post. But Oh, Well.

You can block the number thats calling you.
there is a step by step method in the phone book,
but it has to be done right the person calls.
That number will no longer be able to reach you. Give it a shot, can't hurt.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">That only happened to me once, and I just laughed it off. As far as I'm concerned, if you can't say it on the board, then you probably don't need to say it.

I have gotten a few emails telling me what a sad, sick individual I am for holding some of the beliefs I share.

Oh well, I have been told I was evil before. I once took a job for a finance company as a bill collector. I would remind losers they owed us money and for that be told I was evil. Consider the source.

On the other hand, I have received many very nice emails supporting my beliefs or asking for fishing information.

As in most life situations, the good far outweigh the bad.

It is stooping even lower, in my opinion, to complain to someone offering to take another fishing.........

One thing I would not do on the board is give out your cell, address or other personal info. Literally anyone can get a hold of it and there's much worse they can do with it than just pranking on you.

Ya know, it's sad that some folks behave the way they do. I'm glad you can sluff it off and keep a positive attitude.

Andy, that's terrible dude. Hopefully this will not continue to happen.

Straydog, I know what you mean. I've recieved the same kind of stuff from ignorant folks.

I would also suggest never putting your phone number on the internet... almost anyplace!

Sorry about the e mails... Not so sorry about things I don't allow on the board!

That's way too bad ANDYCOHO. I think this behavior is part of what the "Rabid salmon steelhead fisher"(RSSF) is all about, there's alot of them out there, some worse some better. The RSSF is what has pushed me away from alot of the salmon and steelhead fisheries I used to enjoy, I'm sure to the delight of the RSSF. In years past when these fisheries were fairly crowded the people were nicer and more considerate. The RSSF is why I so enjoy my 2+wk. September trip to Siltcoos for bass and perch, after the zoo on the bigC for fall nooks.

Don't forget that BILLIONS of people all over the world can read this.

The private message feature is good, that limits it to members-only and you don't have to post even your email address.

Yes it's too bad allright I've had to change my email address because someone couldn't understand what "leave me alone" means. After failed attempts to get this person's IP to do something I finally just changed it.
I'll never post my phone or cell on here either.

Anyone who thinks that a fishery on the Columbia River is lightly fished ect. and gives someone grief about talking about it has way too much free time.

By the way, everyone please stay away from the fishery in question(notice how I did not say where, it is secret for only those in the know) this Saturday because I will be stopping there on my way back from Idaho and I would like a nice quiet afternoon.

For those who choose to ignore my instructions, please say "Hello". Look for a 18' red and black flat-bottomed sled center console, with one person in it. I promise not to tell anyone you were there.
