Default Big Steelhead

I got a 37" long and 23" around the middle buck steelhead Friday with all its fins. I figure it to be around 18 pounds. What do you guys think? I was by myself so I didn`t get a picture, I just measured it and let it go.
Happiness is a big steelhead.

Are you sure that it was 23 inches around? If so that fish was closer to 25lbs. That sounds like a Spring chinook to me. Anyway, awesome fish for sure. Grant

Yes it was! The tape was tight around his middle. This was the biggest steelhead I have gotten. I couldn`t believe the size of it when I seen him. He was alot deeper then any I have gotten before.

most say a 40" fish is 20lbs, id say your 18lb guess is as good as any without a pick. i think grant might be suffering from big fish exaggeritis, but still a brute regardless

Fool, don't forget about the fish's girth. Try the fish calculator on the Willie Boats website and see what you get.
