Default "America Rocks The Vote" --- Who Won?

Thought it was a good show. I was particularly impressed with Carol Mosely Brown. She seems like a thoughtful person. Wesley Clark should not dress all in black.

What did you think? Who did the best job?

I can tell you who did not win.......Clark, who came across as stiff and Dean, who is still trying to deal with the "Confederate flag" comment.

Kerry looked very strong.

Sharpton came across as a good public speaker. I liked his comparison of republicans discussing the "recovery" like two surgeons standing over the body of their patient discussing their wonderful surgical technique. I think he was absolutely correct in stating that those who need economic recovery the most have none of it at all. Sharpton was better than Jesse Jackson ever was. I would pay to see him debate Bush!

Kerry made a good point after the debate; that we deserve to see more of fewer candidates. No one can really lay out a position when sharing the floor with so many.

Missed it I guess - maybe I'll catch part of it on CSPAN or something.

I haven't heard about the "confederate flag" deal, what's up with that?

Carol Moseley Braun would probably be a great president, that's the saddest thing.

I would love to see Bush debate Al Sharpton! THAT would be a hoot. But ... I thought Gore would trounce Bush in the debates, but he had to go and be Mr. Calm Nice Guy. Loser. Well, loser with more votes

Dean commented that he thought they needed to go after the vote from the white guy with the confederate flag in the back of his truck (words to that effect). It was taken as support for racists.

He was referring to southern voters who have ben voting republican because of the gun issue, etc, then end up losing everything but their guns to the republicans. Dean is defending the comment, but not very well.

I hope that Dean wins the nomination. It will be a turkey shoot for the Republicans.

I thought this thread was about really rockin' the vote!

Red, White and Nuge: Ted Nugent for Governor

"...In a recent opinion poll, listeners of Grand Rapids radio station WOOD (News Radio 1300) rallied behind their Motor City Madman Ted Nugent as the leading candidate to run against current governor Jennifer Granholm in Michigan's 2006 gubernatorial race. With an overwhelming 91.57% of the vote, Nugent beat out such contenders as the speaker of the Michigan House Rick Johnson and former lieutenant governor Dick Posthumus. ..."

I really tried to sit through that last night but it was such a joke I had to turn it off.

Al Sharpton is a idiot who only has a gift for running his mouth about things he is not informed about. The commit that he made that we aren’t even looking for Bin Laden makes me sick.

It appears to me that the Dems just want to bad mouth Bush and portray Iraqi as another Viet Nam for their own political reasons. How sad is that? None of them even tried to explain how they would deal with the terrorist threat or Saddam if they where in charge. All they due is debate and look to a inapt UN to solve the worlds problems.

Thank god none of these people will see the white house other then as a visitor. All these dem’s are doing is trying to create controversy and make Iraqi seem like a big mistake.

This appears to be the Democrats plan as this Memo shows. (Found on Foxnews.com)

It discusses the timing of a possible investigation into pre-war Iraq intelligence in such a way that it could bring maximum embarrassment to President Bush in his re-election campaign

Democrats Mull Politicizing Iraq War Intelligence

Raw Data: Democratic Memo on Politicizing Intelligence

We have carefully reviewed our options under the rules and believe we have ideinitified the best approach. Our plan is as follows
1) Pull the majority along as far as we can on issues that may lead to major new disclosures regarding improper or questionable conduct by administration officials. We are having some success in that regard. For example, in addition to the president's State of the Union speech, the chairman has agreed to look at the activities of the Office of the Secretary of Defense as well as Secretary Bolton's office at the State Department. The fact that the chairman supports our investigations into these offices and co-signs our requests for information is helpful and potentially crucial. We don't know what we will find but our prospects for getting the access we seek is far geater when we have the backing of the majority. (Note: we can verbally mention some of the intriguing leads we are pursuing.)

2) Assiduously prepare Democratic "additional views" to attach to any interim or final reports the committee may release. Committee rules provide this opportunity and we intend to take full advantage of it. In that regard, we have already compiled all the public statements on Iraq made by senior administration officials. We will identify the most exaggerated claims and contrat them with the intelligence estimates that have since been declassified. Our additional views will also, among other things, castigate the majority for seeking to limit the scope of the inquiry. The Democrats will then be in a strong position to reopen the question of establishing an independent commission (i.e. the Corzine amendment).

3) Prepare to launch an independent investigation when it becomes clear we have exhausted the opportunity to usefully collaborate with the majority. We can pull the trigger on an independent investigation at any time-- but we can only do so once. The best time to do so will probably be next year either:

A) After we have already released our additional views on an interim report -- thereby providing as many as three opportunities to make our case to the public: 1) additional views on the interim report; 2) anouncement of our independent investigation; and 3) additional views on the final investigation; or
B) Once we identify solid leads the majority does not want to pursue. We could attract more coverage and have greater credibility in that context than one in which we simply launch an independent investigation based on principled but vague notions regarding the "use" of intelligence.
In the meantime, even without a specifically authorized independent investigation, we continue to act independently when we encounter foot-dragging on the part of the majority. For example, the FBI Niger investigation was done solely at the request of the vice chairman; we have independently submitted written questions to DoD; and we are preparing further independent requests for information.

Summary
Intelligence issues are clearly secondary to the public's concern regarding the insurgeny in Iraq . Yet, we have an important role to play in the revealing the misleading -- if not flagrantly dishonest methods and motives -- of the senior administration officials who made the case for a unliateral, preemptive war. The approach outline above seems to offer the best prospect for exposing the administration's dubious motives and methods.

Sad

Hey, Al Sharpton is what he is, but you just gotta love the comment he made when asked what the first thing he'd do if elected president would be.

"I'd make sure Bush had all his stuff outta the White House, then I'd change the locks so none o' his people could get back in!"

The above quote is paraphrased.

Crabbait,
It isn’t only a gun issue here. Not all southern conservative voters have a confederate flag on their truck; some of them don’t even own a truck. Thinking like this, stereotyping anyone that doesn’t think like they do. i.e. stupid redneck southerners, is one of the reasons they will not vote for a democrat. Another reason is there are many people that feel the government has been goose-stepping on their first amendment rights, see link below.
Others have lost their jobs in resource extraction industries due to the democrats pandering to environmental extremists.

There are many other reasons to not vote democrat and I'm sure that most of the citizens that live in the south are not one issue voters.

"Indeed", says U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist, "There is simply no historical foundation for the proposition that the Framers intended to build the 'wall of separation' [between church and state]."
