Newberg Willy 9/26 updated with pics
A few of us got together for a small fish-in on Saturday. We launched about 7am and weighed in at 12 out of Newberg on the Willy. We didn’t know that there would also be a club there fishing a tourney.
We did not have very large bags at all.
Well here are the results as best I can remember...
MXRacer105 & Rich = 8.3lbs
1bigfish & dragon67 = 8.0lbs
tuanchau & KStock = 7.2lbs
Matt(no backseater) = 7.5lbs (only fished till 9:30)
Hunt'nFish & boblag = less then 5lbs
After the weigh in we had a little BBQ.
I can’t speak for everyone else but of the 14 smallies I got 13 of them were before 9am. I am sure everyone has their excuses so here is mine. My backseater caught a salmon on the crankbait he was tossing and put it in the livewell. The bass fishing died right after that or at least that is my story and I’m sticking to it.
It was a tough morning of fishing but we still we had a great time out there. I will post some of the pics once I have them down loaded.

Re: Newberg Willy 9/26
hey dave, great to run into you guys out there.
rich and i saw the weigh-in for the hood river guys' tournament
on that same stretch of the willamette. roughly 7 pounds won that
event; and i'm pretty sure no one had 5 fish in the well.
tough morning on the river.
incidentally, rich was back out there early on sunday.
he picked up a 3lb 9oz, in addition to 2 others above 2 and a half.
later,
joe

Re: Newberg Willy 9/26
I had a good time despite being a bit under the weather.
Fishing was tough, they just were not where I expected them to be. All but two of the fish I weighted in came from places I have rarely fished or had never fished before. Definitely a scrapin' day of fishing.
It was a hell of a time BS'ing at the dock and over a few burgers too. We need to do it again sometime soon.
Joe, it was nice seeing you and Rich down there for our "weight-in"..... good timing. And I was hoping someone would find how much weight won that club tourney, thanks for posting.

Re: Newberg Willy 9/26
Where's the pics? Hey if you would have let me count the salmon we would have won!! or it I would have caught a bigger bass that might have done it too. lol It was nice that we did the grilling after the tournament. At least it was a good morning, the Nov 7 tournament might be a lot colder.

LOL. I hope you subtracted the weight of the dog slobber on that bass.

I'm still amazed that Matt fished solo for less than half the time everyone else did and still managed to beat us!
Matt you should definitely be requesting a rematch.

Great score on the salmon. That had to be one heck of a fight.

The only hard part of the fight for him was me standing over him yelling to either get it in now or cut the line. I wanted to get back to catching bass and that salmon was slowing us down. Then all was said and done he went from hookset to in the net in less then 2 minutes on 8lb test line. Don't try that at home boys a girls because you will lose it more often then not yanking it in like that.

Thanks, that's quite generous.
It was great finally putting some faces to the names. I'm looking forward to next time!

Ryan (MXRacer105) and I fished the upper today and although the numbers weren't that great it was encouraging to catch bigger fish. A bunch of 2+ and one over 4+

Thanks.

That's at Roger's Landing in Newberg, but it's posted "No Fishing." There's some good bank access near there, though.
