Remember the 80's?
Time flies - doesn't seem a minute
Since the Tirolean spa had the chess boys in it
All change - don't you know that when you
Play at this level there's no ordinary venue
It's Iceland... or the Philippines... or Hastings... or... or this place!
Do you remember that song? Was it easy or hard? Here is a great little 80's music qwiz
See how ya do.
I listended to way too much music in the 80's. Way too much. Helps growing up back then I guess - even though I got a 30% score reduction as a result... still ended up with a 110.35

I spent a good portion of the 80s in front of a glowing TV. A fun trip down the lane.

I formally protest. Several of those songs were fom the 70's, and I spotted a couple from the 90's.

Re: Remember the 80's?
My wife and I did this together. Despite this, we only got 64.5. I was into punk rock in the 80's and despised pop, and despite the fact that she was born in 1970, my wife likes 70's music. Regardless, it's amazing how much you can absorb without trying, and retain it all these years.

Right song. Wrong group. **** Chung did "Everyone have fun tonight". I hate that 30% reduction too and I don't consider my self a yuppie. It takes more than being born at a certain time to be a yuppie - IMHO.

Re: Remember the 80's?
Got a 59; not sure if I should be proud of remembering that much from my "drunk decade" or depressed cuz some of that lame crap is still wandering 'round my brain. That "Electric Avenue" song is stuck in my head now, rest of the day's shot. Time to go listen to Zeppelin, hopefully purge that synth-trash from my hopelessly addled cerebral cortex...

Re: Remember the 80's?
If you get the line from Hotel California right, its worth ten points. Asia and Toto songs each kick out 4-5 points. Roxette was worth 4. Bonus points plus you get 5 points for filling in where you saw the link. (I just put a BB).
That aside, this is proof that I mis-spent my youth.

Man, Adam Curry and Martha Quinn were like my surrogate parents, and I only scored a 55. They nailed me on the spelling though. Who knew it was JESSIE's girl, not Jesse's girl, and Colitas not Coletus. I was holding out for a SU SU SUDEO.

Re: Remember the 80's?
96.5 despite spending most of the '80s alternating between Heavy Metal (Judas Priest, Scorpions, Def Leppard) and Country (Hank, Alabama, Randy Travis)
Try these..
"I got ******* on my bluejeans, I just****** my hand, Lord it's hard to be a bachelor man."
"Roll on *******, roll on ********, roll on mama like I asked you to do."
"I'm no stranger to the ******"
"Here I am. Rock you like a *******."
"I'm outta love, outta love. Got a ********, picture of..."
"I am an ****** *******, pile driver, mother says that I never never mind her."
Bonus points: Who was in WHAM! besides George Michael?

Scored a 97...meaning I wasted waaaay too much time listening to MTV/radio in the 80's. Where were the low riding pants and tights t-shirts on the chicks then? Club Plaza would have been a lot more fun.

115. I started college in 1981, and my Fraternity had the only Big Screen in the whole school. It was right outside my room, and tuned to MTV 24/7. Add to that my stint as a D.J....and 47 lucky guesses...

Re: Remember the 80's?
David Lee Roth remade California Girls in the '80s.
I was thinking of Keith Whitley (I'm no stranger to the rain)
George Michael's band-mate in WHAM! was Andrew Ridgley.
I am actually kind of relieved that either ifishers didn't know this or chose to ignore it. It troubles me that I remember it though...

"Come on feel the noise, girls rock your boys."
One thing I never could do was break dance!

Re: Remember the 80's?
OK, here's a couple that came to mind:
"Help me make the most of _______ and of _______, nothing ever ______ forever."
"Rise up, ______ 'round, ______ this place to the ground."
"All is quiet on ___ ____ ___"
"And when I get ______, my little ______ girl..."

Re: Remember the 80's?
4 Salt...
"Rise up, gather 'round, burn this place to the ground." - Def Leopard
"All is quiet on New Year's Day " - U2
Not sure about the other two.
The breakdancing song is "Jam on it"
" Superman came to town to see who he could rock, he blew away every crew in town until hit our block."
Anybody seen my suede Puma's with the wide laces and my Adidas nylon running suit?

Excellent Lured!
"Help me make the most of freedom and of pleasure, nothing ever lasts forever... Everybody wants to rule the world." -Tears for Fears
"And when I get excited, my little china girl says oh baby, just you shut your mouth." -David Bowie
This is fun and it brings back some fond memories.

Re: Remember the 80's?
DOH!
It is really funny how easy it is to forget a few lines, but then remember the whole song once you get those lines.

Re: Remember the 80's?
That's it! "The politics of dancing, the politics of ooh feelin' good."
Was it the board hint that tipped you off?
I live in the Seattle suburbs now, but I lived in Los Angeles in the early to mid 80's, so I'm not real familiar with the Portland club scene.

Re: Remember the 80's?
Wow, you are good...
Makes me want to post the most esoteric lyric that I can think of...
How about-
"_________ the name of the game. In bed or in life. They’re both just the same."

Re: Remember the 80's?
Tag...I want to say its Depeche Mode "Master and Servant" but for the life of me I can't think of it.
Here's another goodie if you were into the original "alternative rock" scene...
"O ______, broke my heart, now i'm aching for you."
I just thought of another great 80's band who's lead went solo...
"Girlfriend in a ____, I know, I know, it's serious."

Re: Remember the 80's?
Sweet...
"O Lamour" is actually Erasure and you got the Smiths.
Alphaville did "Forever Young"... "Let us die young or let us live forever, we don't have the power, but we never say never. Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst, are they gonna drop the bomb or not?"
Here is a fun/easy one...
"________ I got your number, I got make you _____" Now can you remember the digits?
