Default Attorney shooting

Did anyone see the shooting of the attorney outside the courtroom in California? The irony of it all struck me afterwards as I thought of all the times I dealt with attorneys defending their clients and making out the victim to be the perpetrator.

I certainly hope the guy recovers and sounds like he will, but I also wonder if another attorney is going to want to defend this guy.

One attorney I remember well who made a habit of defending the worst slime balls of Portland society flagged me down on I-5 near Wilsonville after his client beat him and robbed him and took his car. He could not believe the guy would do that after all the work he did defending him on robbery charges.

That's when I decided my job was better than his even if he made three times the money.

I saw that report on the news the other night! THAT'S CRAZY!! The guy was a point blank range when he was firing and all the attorney had was a 12" diameter sappling to hide behind. What struck me as odd was the gunman just walked away like nothing happened after it was all said and done! What a jerk! He needs to be put away! I don't care how much money he "thought" he should have gotten. You don't do something like that...it's called a CRIME!!!

The Newsreel film was pretty terrible...no matter what the victim did for a living.

The process of suing a doc for zillions of dollars however, and then the attorney taking half of the proceeds seems a little unbalanced. The trial attorneys have pretty much driven the cost of medical care out of sight...making insurance for patient and docs alike so high that between that and the cost of paper work needed to jump through the hoops and barriers used by insurance companies to prevent the delivery of care...the whole system is a big mess.

But the shooting...docs, shrinks, plumbers, contractors, many others have been shot by their displeased clients. This is not new, it was the filming of the event that was new...it is actually an old, but , thankfully, an infrequent story.
