Default Willamette Springer Q's???

Hello all, I am fairly new to the board, and i wish that i cpuld contribute more, however you guys are mostly sturgeon and Oregon fisherman.

Anyways....

A family friend is a Marine (go Grunts!)and is stationed at the coast guard base on the Willamette, he says they have a dock and everything, lol. So my question for you Ifisher's is...is that too far upriver to fish for springers and what could I use? Side planner and quickfish? spinners? eggs and float? Thanks to anyone who could help us with the dilema! Any and all info is greatly appreicated!!!!!!!

If memory serves me right, the CG dock is not actually in the main river. It is more of a lagoon off the river. I guess there is always a possibility of catching one..

Sorry, but the only fish off the USCG dock that would be biting are not springers.

You need a boat out on this portion of the Willamette River in order to have an opportunity for springers.

If you want to go and do some bank fishing your best bets would be either in the lower river(Columbia)
ie Diblee beach, prescott beach, sauvie island

or up around Oregon City/Gladstone on the Willamette

or choose a guide to go out with for salmon/steelhead or sturgeon

Send me an email. Just click on my moniker for my email address. I fish that area a lot and will take both of you fishing. Have him check to see if I can pick you up off the CG dock. If not I'll meet him at the St John's Bridge ramp. He doesn't stand much chance hooking anything off the CG dock. We have caught a fish trolling though right across from the CG dock at that inside Swan Island drydock.
