Bottom line is really what the programming choices are that you prefer and how the equipment works for you. I had a satelite (DTV) system for several years that I really enjoyed; super high picture and sound quality, "S" TV compatible, the right program choices. I migrated to digital cable with the inducement of a $500 dish buy out. The digital cable picture quality is about 1/2 the resolution of DTV and I can't get a stereo signal.

My preference was for DTV over Dish, based on program offerings and the deal I got at the time. I suspect those sorts of things change over time and with different local offers.

We sure get a lot of satellite threads.

Just like I said in the last thread, I switched from Dish to DTV and I am happy with the change.

It isn't just the programming... I think they have better technology and will continue to stay ahead of the game. They have better financial backing, which is important long term.

They stayed committed to internet satellite when Dish jumped ship.

They are actually saving me a few dollars ($4.00)on local programming over what Dish charged me. And I don't need two dishes to get the local stuff like I did with Dish.

Updating the programming guide is super fast compared to Dish. (please wait or cancel !)
We had waited 5 minutes or more for sports programming to load. Now it's there in less than 2 seconds.

But if I had to choose Dish over Cable.... Dish would win hands down! MY cable TV company had horrible customer service. Both Dish and DTV have good to excellent customer service.
