Default FYI Mercury and Tohatsu props are interchangable on the new 4 strokes!

After going to Mercury marine to order a new prop for my 2008 Mercury 8 hp kicker, I found that Mercury does not offer a 4 blade high thrust prop for my particular model. After doing a little research, I checked with Tohatsu, the maker of newer small hp mercury 4 strokes and found that they did offer the prop I wanted! So I ordered a new prop from Tohatsu, at a much lower price I might ad! The prop arrived today, and slid right on with no problems whatsoever! Bottom line if you want a High thrust 4 blade prop for your newer Mercury 4 stroke kicker Tohatsu is the place to go. The only reason that I can think of that Mercury doesn't offer a high thrust prop is because they want you to spend the extra dough on one of their pro-kickers to get one! Additionally you can save 20% over the cost of a quicksilver prop!

Good to know, this was one of the things I was going to do to my Merc 9.9.

Same story goes for many larger outboards, especially newer ones. Merc 4.25" gearcase props will fit on Suzukis and Yamahas, and vice versa. Those are the 90, 115, and 140 style motors. The same goes for the 4.75" gearcase models, mainly 150hp and on up. Sometimes you have to mix and match washers and spacers, but many will interchange.
