Default Putting in a swing tongue on Trailer

Anyone have a good option of who can cut my tongue and put in a swing for my trailer?

Also, I have seen this on one boat I saw for sale but not sure how well it works. They put the swing behind the "neck"(the post that has the winch on it ,and where the bow rests into the "V" Does anyone else have this set up, how does it work with the roller out in front??

Thanks! I just posted about another subject and you guys answered it in a matter of moments!!

oh, anyone know of a good yamaha dealer in/around Beaverton/Tigard??

called a couple places but stevens is close and gave me a price of $250.00. But they said they could not put it behind the winch post... I have seen it done, so don't know why they could not... Any personal experience with the swing behind the winch post?

Thanks!

The reason they won't do it I'm sure is because of liability. The winch post generally also is used to help support the bow with the roller and also the biggest reason is that to swing the tongue you would have to at least loosen or most likely unhook the winch line and safety chain to swing the tongue. The trailer you saw that had been done that way, was most likely not done by a professional shop for the very reasons I stated above, because if you forget to hook the winch back up and get it tight as well as hook the safety chain back up and their is an accident due to this, someone at some point (insurance company or lawyer for another party) would go back to the installer for doing it the way they did.

--not sure why you want it...save space at storage or easy hook up?

--I use backup camera to help self hitch my boat, works great. Might be a cheaper alternative some are wireless.

Right now I have 21ft in my garage, boat is coming in at just under 24ft. If I can get the swing tongue I will be able to fit it in my garage!

Thanks for the feedback, Any more input??

Mine is behind the winch post and it came that way from Northriver. No problems.

I installed mine myself. My wife bought the kit for my birthday a few years ago. Real easy install, just need a sawzall, a drill and a couple of wrenches. It sure free's up a lot of garage space.
