Rocky Point Marina ramp?
When I fish Multnohmah Channel, I launch from either Cathedral Park or Scapose Bay. Often I fish somewhere in the middle of the channel. Looking at my Evergreen Atlas charts, Rocky Point Marina would be closer to the mid section of the channel than either Scapose Bay or Cathedral Park. Can someone tell me what the boat ramp at Rocky Point is like? How about the parking area? Compared to Scapose Bay and Cathedral Park, is it a pretty safe place to park your truck, or is it an area more prone to break ins?

Re: Rocky Point Marina ramp?
One of my friends used to live on a houseboat there. The ramp is skinny and steep (no problem with my little boat and the Trooper, but the big boat and the 1-ton Ford would be tough). There is only parking for residents, so you would have to park up by the highway and walk down.
There is a nice launch almost straight across the channel (slightly upstream) on Sauvie Island. If you get off the bridge and go straight (past the store), and straight through the first stop sign, the ramp is less that a mile on the left. I don't think there is a launch fee other than the annual Sauvie Island parking pass. The parking is limited, so be early.
The other two options in between are Brown's Landing (no dock and very limited parking) or Gilbert River (way at the north end of Sauvie Island on a gravel road).
Good luck.

Re: Rocky Point Marina ramp?
Thanks Beefcake, What is the name of the other ramp you mentioned? Is it straight across the channel from Rocky Point, or ???

Re: Rocky Point Marina ramp?
Sorry, can't remember the name. It is just past the row of houseboats on your left as you follow the channel north on Sauvie. There is a little boat ramp sign just before it. Easy to spot.
It's just upsteam from Rocky Point, and well downstream from Fred's.

Re: Rocky Point Marina ramp?
The name of the ramp is called the cable crossing. As far as i know you don't need a parking permit. It's a great ramp but parking is limited.

Re: Rocky Point Marina ramp?
The limited parking and vandalism (with the parking off to the side and generally out of sight it's popular with ******* riff raff) make it a less popular spot.
Scappoose Bay makes for a pretty short run to go up past Coon Island.

There has been alot of theft at the cabel crossing ramp in the past few weeks. they hit my rig and two others next to me. I ended up with a broken window and my boat trailer spare ripped off.

Re: Rocky Point Marina ramp?
It might be time for a little "sting" operation at the cable crossing put in.....I've used that spot for YEARS, with no trouble....hmmmmmm.
