Default Insert

Where can i find a .025" replacement ceramic insert for my line guide? I have looked through the Anglers Workshop site and not seeing it. Any other options?

Usually replace the entire guide. The inserts are available, but I've not figured out how to go about getting them. Ray or Emory any ideas?

I called Loomis and they only have the guide also. I may just have to wrap it even though I dont want to go that far. Hopefully someone has an idea on a easy replacement.

Catchnrelease,
Get a guide that is the same make, type and size and grind or file the guide frame down so that the ceramic insert will come out. Don't worry about hurting the ceramic insert with the grinder or file. The ceramic is hard enough that the grinding or filing will not hurt it.
Clean off any residue from the inside of the guide frame on the rod and from the outside of the ceramic.
Carefully press the ceramic into the guide frame. It will take quite a bit of force but keep the ceramic as straight and the applied force as uniform around the edge of the ceramic as you can. The ceramic is brittle and can be broken.
You can use a tool like a pair of pliers for this but keep the force as uniform as you can.
After the replacement ceramic is fit into the guide frame touch the edge where the guide frame and the ceramic meet with a little super glue. The super glue should wick all around the ceramic insert.
I have done this many times but to tell the truth I have had mixed results. Usually it works just fine but sometimes I cannot get the ceramic to fit into the guide frame and after breaking a couple of the ceramic inserts I just cut the guide off of the rod and wrap a new one on.

Ok, that was my next plan but was hoping to just get some inserts.

I find it amazing you cant just get the part. O well, guess I try the file then rewrap if needed

Yeah, I had had less success than Emory but a couple times I did succeed without breaking the insert or maring the existing guide frame.

I much prefer to wrap on a new guide.

Welding is going to be a pain. Aside from trying to find the right ring size from the manufacturer.

It might be less of a headache to rewrap and replace with a new guide.
I think a few places around here will do it for a reasonable cost, but it's a pretty easy DIY job.

I agree would be a good idea to just replace the guide than fooling with the ring. Replacing the ring can be done, but it has in my experience been a better outcome to wrap a new guide.
