Default $1.44 gallon in PDX metro area!

Sweet and sad. We filled up the tank for $1.44 this weekend. sweet low price - sad because I remember it being much lower.

That isn't a special 'radio station' price either. I know that sometimes radio stations will do remotes out at places and have super prices... this isn't one of those deals. It is the price on the sign minus 3 cents per gallon.

Freddies sells gas now. At least some of them do. The one out near my neck of the woods has free cards you can reuse to save 3 cents of each gallon. The price for regular unleaded is sitting at $1.47 - that's not bad.

I hope this is a trend and something going to be here a long while!

Is it the Freddie's in Scappoose? Can't think of any others around here. Safeway usually has decent prices on gas, as does Costco.

I don't get as much work when gas prices drop, so it sucks for me.
I'm happy for everybody else, though.

This whole thread strikes me as funny! I remember the days of the gas price wars
in the early '70s when you could get a gallon of gas for as little as 24 cents a
gallon! 'Course, I guess when I talk about things like that I'm really showing my
age, eh?

I also remember buying smokes at the local Awful Brothers gas station for 15 cents
a pack! Minimum wage had just gone up to a buck/hour when I started working.
My, how things have changed ...

For comparison purposes, I paid $1.59 at a Sacramento Costco. Most places here are selling regular unleaded for $1.64 to $1.75.
