Default Hang your college diploma at work?

I recently dug my college diploma out, framed it and it's hanging in my office at home. I'm considering making a copy of it and hanging it up at work. I worked hard for that thing and not everyone knows I'm a college grad. I'm wondering what other folks do and what their feelings about it are. I work in a cubicle (who doesn't?) and I'm wondering if it's going to seem just a little pretentious.

University of Texas at Austin. I'd give you a "go Longhorns!" but I was never really a sports fan when I was a student.

Nah. Keep it at home......the diploma on the wall is for doctors and shrinks and lawyers and stuff.

Get some Longhorn paraphenalia to put up......but I'd keep the diploma at home. JMHO

Diplomas are on the wall upstairs in the guest room/den/office.

University of Oregon, 1982

I've thought about hanging it in my cube @ work, but it looks fine where it is. No need to further humiliate my undereducated co-workers!

Amp,

You should post a sign that reads..."I survived Halloween on 6th Street"

Nope. The diplomas, certifications, and awards are all at home in a box somewhere. I will never forget the hard work to get them nor the long time to pay off the students loans either.

Diplomas no, professional licenses, yes, even if they are not required as part of your job description.

Got mine from OSU "76". Every now and then I find it in a drawer with photos, in a box out in the garage, used to be in my daughters room. Should look that item up. Yup, I was in the Fraternity "GDI" and very proud of it. Worked my way through all the way. Never really had time to enjoy college life always studying, working or trying to make rent and car payments. Still it was a real feat that I am very proud of. My wife also graduated from OSU and we have a junior and 5th year senior now attending OSU. They are the third generation to attend OSU. My wifes dad graduated in 1951. I still say that one of the hardest things I ever did in life was get a degree.

Why not, are you ashamed of your accomplishment?

Mine hangs in my cube and I am damn proud of it. If it offends anyone they are free to get their own damn sheepskin. There is simply nothing I have worked harder for.

Trust me there is nothing pretentious about attending college as a non traditional student (working, family) at 30+ yrs old with classrooms full of spoiled rich kids 1/2 your age.

i agree with pilar.. hang it and be proud of your hard work. the only problem i see is thats it not a washington state diploma... now those are real treasures. go cougs (ps i went to portland state university, my youngest son is a 4th year cougar and since every spare dime i have is sent east for his fine education i think i can rant a bit about those cougs) joco

My co-workers know that I have degrees(it just comes up in conversation as you get to know people) and I feel no need to advertise it others. However, I also have absolutely no problem with someone displaying notice of a major accomplishment in their life. The work and sacrifice that it took to achieve a degree is worth acknowledgement.

Personally though, having pictures of my family in my office is much more important to me.

Don't ask, don't tell policy. That way during college football season you can talk smack about anybody, and you don't make yourself a target

I would hang my diploma in my office but unfortunately the college I attended, The University of Hard Knocks, ran out of diplomas before I graduated.

No football at University of Portland => no problem. They do have one hell of a soccer team, though with several former members in the last Olympics and a recently deceased coach that was highly regarded.
